L'autrice presenta un mondo culinario fortemente caratterizzato, volgendo uno sguardo attento ai vari lessici gustativi, al legame stabilito con gli altri sensi, alle modalità con cui i consumatori si rapportano con il cibo e, attraverso di esso, con la società in generale nel corso dei secoli.
