The map opens to a 20" x 8" color map that shows the travel from Vancouver along the inland waterways with all the stops shown and finally reaching Skagway to complete the journey inland to Dawson. On the right side of the map are all the ports visited along with a brief sketch of each. A small tear along the spine fold has been repaired by a paper conservator else near fine with the map in fine unused condition. Privately printed, [1939]. unknown

1957The book describes the 19551956 Norwegian Archaeological Expedition's investigations of Polynesian history and culture at Easter Island, the Austral Islands of Rapa Iti and Raivavae, and the Marquesas Islands of Nuku Hiva and Hiva Oa. Visits to Pitcairn Island, Mangareva and Tahiti are described as well. By far the greatest part of the book tells of the work on Easter Island, where the expedition investigated the giant stone statues (moai), the quarries at Rano Raraku and Puna Pau, the ceremonial village of Orongo on Rano Kau, as well as many other sites throughout the island. Much of the book's interest derives from the interaction of the expedition staff, from their base at Anakena beach, with the Easter Islanders themselves, who lived mainly in the village of Hanga Roa. 361p. illus fold-out maps. OBSCURE ITEM LIMITED EDITION OF 500 This lovely period poster was printed September 30 1937 in a LIMITED EDITION OF 500 only copies per the colophon at the bottom of the poster. CONDITION: The poster is very clean and obscure. There are 2 very tiny mended closed tears in the right and lower margin else this is a very clean nice copy of a rare item. There is almost no surface soil and a small bump to lower right corner again none of this invades the text at all and can be matted out in a frame. The "CHINA CLIPPER" an early Pan-Am aircraft is shown flying over the city of San Francisco just above Fisherman's Wharf and other piers and North Beach Russian Hill the tower and downtown in the background. The text informs the Chinese community about the new air mail service drop off locations times of pickup and the like. Nicely executed. QUITE SCARCE . unknown
