1835réf. BIBLIO-58130Printed at the Bengal Military Orphan Press by G.H. Huttmann for the Asiatic Society of Bengal Calcutta first edition 1835. Contemporary pebblegrain cloth gilt spine-title 4to 32 cm. 1 16 17-22 17-228 pp. Scarce. A detailed index to the first 18 volumes of Asiatic Researches. The page references given are to the quarto volumes but a table is provided to assist in using these to find the corresponding references in the octavo edition. A list of officers of the Asiatic Society of Bengal appears at the end. This is one of the first substantial works to be printed at the Bengal Military Orphan Press by its first Superintendent G.H. Huttmann who had previously run a missionary press in Malacca in the 1820s: the post seems to have been an unlucky one as Huttmann was to die after being thrown from his horse while the two next Superintendents were each to die by drowning. Gilt number and 'Athenaeum' on spine top edges of a few leaves slightly duststained and a handful of leaves spotted otherwise Very Good. Printed at the Bengal Military Orphan Press by G.H.
