Holdsworth; The Epsom Trust. ; 30 2 pages slip facing page 2 "It is requested that this printed copy of the Report may be substituted for that delivered generally to Members on the 10th of August. . . .". Later cloth boards. Page dimensions: 338 x 209mm. Number #556 on title. Final leaf has a smaller sized title page with "Under 8 oz." printed at the tail end. The "Report" is on pages 3-14 with 19 Resolutions on page 12-14. The "Proceedings of the Committee" are on pages 15-30. Heading on page 3: "Report. The Select Committee appointed 'to inquire into the State of the Colony of New Zealand; and into the Proceedings of the New Zealand Company; and to to report the Minutes of Evidence and their Opinion thereon to The House and to whom Two Petitions were referred; - Have considerd the Matters to them referred and agreed to the following Report: - " The report "takes the view that native sovereignty should not be recognized over waste lands never occupied by them; regrets Commissioner Spain's adoption of the idea that all land should be considered as native until proved to have been properly paid for . . . The report as a whole is very favourable to the Co. New Zealand Company although it admits that their conduct in sending settlers in defiance of the Crown was irregular and improper."
