1805réf. 114941805. Original Wrappers. Very Good binding. 12mo. 19 1 blank pp. First edition. As issued stitched in plain wrapper; a few leaves unopened. Light wear to the covers including some silverfishing to the bottom inner margin of the front wrapper and to the deckled edges; light soiling but largely a remarkably copy; contents clean. An address criticizing incumbent Pennsylvania governor Thomas McKean and recommending Simon Snyder as governor in the 1805 election. While Snyder lost to McKean in a contentious 1805 contest he would ultimately win in 1808 and serve three terms. The language early in the address is salient: "Principles and not men were the foundations on which American independence was established . Principles and not men have been the objects of contest ever since between the several parties which have arisen under our government; but we are now brought to a point when it is to be determined by the public suffrage whether men setting at defiance the wishes of the people and the principles of representative government shall govern Pennsylvania" p. 3. It is perhaps comforting to realize that some things never change including campaign rhetoric. This is an unusual copy as the title should ready: ". . . Notice at Lancaster on April 3d 1805"; but the "3d" is not printed. This appears to be an unrecorded variant. Perhaps the type fell out or was battered whatever the case it differs from the others in the impression. A cursory comparison suggests this is the only difference. 1910Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Paperback. Wrapper is repaired. Tape on spine. Chipped on last page. Other wise a good copy. Folio. (40 x 28 cm). In Ottoman script. 72 p., 14 cedvels (schemes) and [14] p. color statistics. Meclis-i Mebûsân Birinci devre 1325-1326 içtimai. 326 senesi muâzene-i umûmîsi hakkinda [.] kaleme alinan esbâb-i mûcibe mazbata-yi umûmîsi. Meclis-i Mebûsân (The Chamber of Deputies) of the Ottoman Empire was the lower house of the General Assembly, the Ottoman Parliament. Unlike to the upper house, the Senate, the members of the Chamber of Deputies were elected by the general Ottoman populace, although suffrage was limited to males of a certain financial standing, among other restrictions that varied over the Chamber's lifetime. The Second Constitutional Era of the Ottoman Empire began shortly after Abdul Hamid II was forced to restore the constitutional monarchy after the 1908 Young Turk Revolution. The period established many political groups and parties. Ahmet Riza became the first President of the Chamber in 1908. An amendment in 1909 to the original 1876 constitution resulted in the Chamber gaining more true political power at the expense of the non-democratically elected Senate and the Sultan. A series of elections during this period resulted in the gradual ascendance of the Committee of Union and Progress's (CUP) domination in politics. The second largest party Liberal Unionist Party (LU) (Turkish: Hürriyet ve Itilâf) was in fact a coalition of parties led by Prince Sabahaddin. This is a rare protocol register book of Meclis-i Mebûsân. First and Only Edition. Not in Özege.; Not in OCLC.
