1875rif. 40335N.p. but possibly Paris. ca.1875. A Rare Series of Plates of Maritime Life on the Senegal Coast A volume of engravings depicting the voyage of the ship Bellone and seafaring life. Following the "title" plate which is numbered 21 are scenes of Africa primarily in Senegal. These plates depict the natives villages and cities. After the scenes of Africa are plates depicting maritime life evidently on a French naval vessel in the Atlantic. These images are much more delicately engraved and are not numbered. The first few of these detail a "day in the life" of a sailor from morning muster and breakfast through scrubbing the deck and inspection and shore leave. Two plates of Uruguay and two unidentified landscapes are also inexplicably inserted in the midst of this sequence. An interesting and perhaps unique compilation of travel and maritime images. Forty engraved plates. Folio. Contemporary green half calf and marbled boards spine gilt. Spine faded. Lightly rubbed at extremities. Bookplate on front pastedown. First plate lightly age-toned. Some very minor scattered foxing else bright and clean internally. Very good. hardcover books

rif. 140949440Stroudsburg PA: Paris Flammonde nd. An outline of letter "A" in an alphabetical encyclopedia of UFOs by Paris Flammonde which was never published. Typescript with author's address in upper right corner; appears to be designed to be shopped around among publishing contacts. 1 25 pp. typed on rectos only. Unbound paperclip securing the contents. Near Fine. "Some entries are complete" Flammonde writes "or relatively so others are truncated or nominal." Most of the listings herein are indeed only a handful of sentences but the listings for George Adamski and Kenneth Arnold are the most substantive. The late author was a prolific writer on UFOs and the Kennedy assassination as well as a poet. A truly scarce ufological manuscript. Paris Flammonde unknown books
rif. 140949354No place: Scanuscryption 2007. First edition. First edition. Complete in four volumes.lxxvi 490; ii 491-1020; 1021-1428; 1429-1774 pp. Bound in publisher's yellow wraps. Very Good with a few minor scuffs and stains to edges. Small scratch to front wrap and peeling to laminate on bottom of back wrap of Vol. 1. Nice shape overall. A mammoth work on the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The author was a longtime habitue of the JFK assassination scene in addition to circulating in the UFO and sci-fi subcultures who knew most of the major researchers on the case since November 22 1963. He pays tribute to them here summarizing their work and adding some details and personal reminiscences. The second book Masques of New Orleans is arguably the strongest with some interesting insights on the Big Easy figures D.A. Jim Garrison prosecuted such as David Ferrie and Clay Shaw. These books seem to have had hardly any distribution not surprising as they were self-published in the oughts and Flammonde was a proud Luddite in his late 70s and are quite uncommon in commerce.
