First edition of this very rare original Progressive Era water pump and water supply catalogue extolling the latest innovations from the Kewanee Water Supply Co. which manufactured and sold James Jelinek’s breakthrough water supply pumps. Jelinek developed the systems of pumping air & water through the same system thereby introducing water supplies under pressure and allowing local farm and municipal water systems to move away from water tower gravity tanks which often froze in the winter and delivered warm water in the summer. They were specially built with significantly thicker steel in tanks and pumps in order to cut down on repair breakage and developed such a great reputation they largely ran other manufacturers out of the business. The company thrived until sold following World War II to an elevator company and closed in 1949. Worldcat locates 1 copy Harvard; See: History of Kewanee Private Utilities Co.
