Illustrated throughout and with 10 composite sectional models. Quartos. 170pp. and 212pp. Olive green cloth boards stamped in black and gilt. Very good or better with both volumes have some light interior foxing bumping at the spine ends and some rubbing and fraying at the corners. The 10 folded-out sectional models four in vol. 1 and six in vol. 2 appear fresh and complete with just one "Universal Milling Machine" with three small pieces detached but still present and laid in. A nice set of volumes. The Gresham Publishing Company hardcover

Johnston in Edinburg in 1842. The planisher contains two inset charts: Delineation of the course of the Hourly Medium Temperatures of the Year in the Temperate Zones; Curves of Hourly Mean Temperatures. Von Humboldt's explanation is laid out through the various temperate zones of the world. Overall a very nice important early map expressing Humboldt's findings. John Johnstone, W & A. K. Bound attractively in half morocco by Root & Son. 4to. 19 by 14 cm. xii 1 423 pp. Profusely illustrated with b/w plates and drawings in the text. Binding rubbed along joints. A few scratches on the spine leather and unevenness of color. Although most leaves are clean there are leaves afflicted with heavy-ish foxing by which we mean pronounced in some way -- the size and/or darkness of the markings or the clustering of markings. A few leaves with a dampstain and other soiling. The plates on a different glossy paper stock are generally clean. Notwithstanding a fairly attractive shelf presence this copy gives us the impression of a certain grittiness. Longmans, Green, and Co unknown
