Snow believed it was the technic of administrations and procceeded to remedy the situtation by developing an improved inhalter. Thenceforth the administration of ether was successful. Snow was not only a praticing anesthetist but being endowed with intellectual curiosty he was also a teachter and an investigator. Snow reported his new inhaler mask to the Westminster Medical Society. In addition he appreciated the need for measuring the ammount of agent administered the significance of oxygen lack the problem of carbon dioxide; and for the guidance of clinicians he divided the progress of anesthesia into five stages.
