1991Best.-Nr. SBBI-mon0000146344Priory Publications Ltd 1991. paperback. Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing fanning inscriptions margin notes yellowing staining on edge or cover or pages bumps scuffs etc etc sometimes multiple of these. It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order at least not without checking with us first although we don't always have time to check. Best.-Nr. 18516Archive of 12 silver gelatin photos pasted to dark grey board and clipped from original photo album of WWI era soldiers and jockeys partaking in horse racing. Measurements are 3" x 4" with the photos themselves measuring 2.5" x 3.25". Horses were vital in military usage during the First World War and played a major role economically as they reached their peak of 21.5 million by 1920. Between the First and Second World Wars the importance of the horse in commerce and agriculture began to decline. Whilst this was going on the sport of horse racing continued to grow in popularity perhaps partly as a result of this general decline. Horse racing was one an international favorite sporting pastime with dozens of courses all over the world. This photo archive shows a particular race in motion with jockeys who seem to be competing with a group of WWI soldiers in officer caps and uniform. Photos have minor wear to edges and corners. Overall in very good condition images are crisp and clear. unknown
