A significant dictionary of late Middle and Early Modern English by the Shakespearean scholar and biblioclast James Orchard Halliwell who had become Halliwell-Phillipps in 1872 following the death of his father-in-law the bibliomaniac Thomas Phillipps with whom he had been in conflict since eloping in the face of his objections.
