2015The "rescue" of Greece through documents of IMF, the Americans and the European Commission and the tragic responsibilities of Greek politicians. On Saturday, November 21, 2009 five officials of the European Commission, the Eurogroup, the ECB and the Greek Government, accompanied by their staff gathered in the office of Prime Minister of Luxembourg .under the inviolable condition never to disclose .this the secret meeting. . Attended by the head of the ECB Jean-Claude Trichet, Commissioner Joaquim Almunia, the Greek Finance Minister George Papaconstantinou and the governor of the Bank of Greece George Provopoulos. For the secret meeting informed proven source of the Eurogroup, then chaired by Mr. Juncker, and confirmed to me by Mr. Papakonstantinou, who told me that during the "Our measures applied to reduce the 2010 deficit (of course, not 2009). Especially," he said, "the ECB insisted very large reduction ( spoke for 4-5 units). Finally we put the budget reduction of 3.6 units, with additional measures in January were 4 points, "said the then finance minister. That day, Messrs. Juncker, Trichet and Almunia sent in Mr. Papandreou a "mini Memorandum". It was their proposal to end the crisis in the bud. Then Prime Minister never answered them. And Greece was led to destruction . Researching the Greek debt crisis, increasingly concluded that the country had the misfortune to fall into the hands of leaders who have been unable either to understand the dimensions of the crisis that exploded in their hands or to manage it.To write this book I spoke to 139 people: officials of the Greek government, the IMF, the US government, FED, ECB and European Commission. I also had the good fortune to read documents of IMF, the US Embassy in Athens and the European Commission.543p.[7 copies found in WroldCat] Book

1855pp. 100, (8) [Pitman's Descriptive Catalogue]. Engraved on stone by Benn Pitman. Ruled in black throughout. All edges marbled. 180mm. Original full leather binding lettered in gold and embossed in blind. Slight loss at head of spine. Corners rubbed. Front board delicate. Hardbound. Very good. English born Benn Pitman (1822-1910), assisted his brother Isaac in perfecting the latter's system of shorthand phonography (1837). From 1843 till 1852 he lectured on the system throughout Great Britain, and had a large share in compiling his brother's text-books. At Isaac's request he came to the United States in January, 1853, to give instruction in phonography, and settled at Cincinnati. In 1855 he discovered the process of producing relief copper-plates of engraved work by the galvanic process known as electrotypes, for which he was awarded a silver medal by the Cincinnati Mechanics' Institute. The following year he succeeded, in connection with Dr. J. B. Burns, in producing stereotype plates by the gelatine process in photo-engraving. From 1865 to 1867 he acted as the official stenographer during the trials of the assassin, of President Lincoln, the "Sons of Liberty," the Ku-Klux Klan, and other similar government prosecutions. He also edited and compiled the printed reports of these trials. In 1873 he abandoned reporting and became connected with the school of design, now the art academy, of the University of Cincinnati. His object was to secure the development of American decorative art and to open up a new profession for women. SHORTHAND x2

C. , the Aitolian koinon, a federation of mountain cantons in west central Greece, expanded to incorporate many of the neighboring lands and peoples lying between the Adriatic and Aegean Seas. This new political configuration contributed to the development of modern systems of federal democracy based on proportional representation. Despite these institutional advances, the Aitolians and their polity are reviled in the ancient historical tradition, which views them as backward, semi-barbarous brigands. The Politics of Plunder is the first English-language book in over a century to examine the political history of the Aitolian koinon in its era of expansion. Joseph Scholten presents a chronological reconstruction of the koinon's course of expansion, synthesizing a number of recent studies covering Aitolian topography, epigraphy, and institutional development that help to compensate for deficiencies in the ancient narrative record. His study is the first to ask how a people and a polity so detested by their contemporaries succeeded in making such fundamental contributions to their regional political culture. Scholten's careful investigation charts a middle course that neither whitewashes the Aitolians nor credulously accepts the biased ancient tradition. This balanced approach provides a much-needed fresh perspective on the Aitolians and their koinon. Discussing the history of the ancient Aegean Greek world and the political, economic, and social history of the Hellenistic Era, this book will interest anyone concerned with those subjects or fascinated by the development of ancient Greek political institutions and theories, particularly federalism. ; Hellenistic Culture and Society; 2.72 x 9.31 x 7.94 Inches; 339 pages
