2018ABOUT THE BOOK:- This book has been written primarily for the medical students, medical officers and lawyers, especially those dealing with medico-legal problems. A Registered Medical Practitioner should have sufficient knowledge of laws & ethical aspects of Good Medical Practice, in order not to conflict with it during his/her professional practice. For that he/she ought to be familiar with various Acts, Rules & Regulations that are in force or else he/she may find himself/herself inadvertently contravening these & courting trouble & also amounting to professional misconduct attracting disciplinary action by the authorities. For that reason, provision of laws relating to medical practice in undergraduate/graduate curriculum should be seriously considered. Medical jurisprudence benefits immensely both the medical and the legal field of work. A better understanding and cooperation has resulted and has facilitated a smoother working of both disciplines. 2020About the Book:- The COVID-19 pandemic has affected most countries in the world. India is among the top three affected nations. Although urban areas were affected first and hit harder, rural India has not remained untouched by the pandemic. Now the COVID-19 cases are increasingly getting reported from semi-urban and rural areas which are particularly vulnerable due to inadequate health services and lack of media attention. The pandemic has impacted rural community in more than one ways. 2021About the Book:- The Indian state of Kerala has received considerable amount of attraction internationally owing to the remarkable achievements she has made in social sectors, particularly health sector with relatively lesser number of economic resources. Kerala's figures on life expectancy, male and female literacy, child mortality, crude death rate etc. are close to those of developed countries and Kerala's achievements in health, in spite of its economic backwardness has prompted many analysts to talk about a unique' Kerala Model of Health' providing 'good health at low cost' worth emulating by other developing parts of the world. However, over the last few years concerns were raised about the sustainability of Kerala model of health exemplified by the simultaneous presence of the diseases of poverty (infectious diseases) and diseases of affluence (life style diseases), decay in Public Health System, uncontrolled growth of private sector resulting in escalation of health care cost. Taking cue of these issues, the Government of Kerala has attempted to revamp the health sector through a plethora of intervention programmes to make healthcare in Kerala accessible, affordable and available to all sections of the population. The book on 'Revisiting the Kerala Model of Health' enquires upon the multiple facets of the Model, the challenges in terms of increasing morbidity and escalating expenditure, health status of the marginalized, interventions in terms of new initiatives at the governance and implementation levels, evaluation of attempts at providing food and nutrition security etc. The book will be of particular use to academicians, health workers and policy makers. 2021ABOUT THE BOOK In almost seventy-five years after Independence our policy makers have been focusing on food security but with an increase in viral and bacterial diseases and erratic supply chain, nutritional security has gained credence. Moreover, the present covid-19 pandemic has highlighted a need to take proactive measures to tackle unprecedented situation like this, which we have never faced in last seven decades of independence. Keeping this in view, the present book is an effort to provide valuable insights in nutritional well-being of society. These people of north east India are living from time immemorial. They have their own language, faiths, beliefs and practices. Being indigenous group of people, they have their time tested and age old ethnomedical beliefs and practices.
