VI+164 pages. Quarter-cloth black board rebound Hardcover. Cover rubbed. Cover edges worn. Cover corners bumped.Spine wrinkled. Spine edges tattered. Spine rear hinge rubbed. Ex-library copy with stamp on page I and 2 stamps on page III. Front whitepage, title page and page I/II detached from binding with tattered edges. Binding visible on inner cover. Pen marks on front endpaper. Some page corner/s slightly chipped - NO damage to text. Some page edges rough-cut. Pages browning and slightly wavy. [SUMMARY]: This study of one of the most important ancient translations of the Pentateuch has sustained some damage (mostly external), but the inside of the book is preserved very well; accordingly this extremely rare book is still in good reading condition.

- 1826, 18,5x24cm, une feuille rempliée. - Lettre autographe signée adressée au peintre Jean-Pierre Granger et datée du 24 avril 1826, une page rédigée à l'encre noire, adresse du correspondant au verso. 15 lignes d'une belle écriture penchée sur un feuillet remplié. Le célèbre peintre d'empire recommande à son confrère : "un petit jeune homme qui me parait bien intéressant et trop jeune pour entrer dans mon atelier. De Grand Diable, faites moi le plaisir de le bien voir dans le votre et quand il aura passé quelque temps à copier, si cela ne vous contrarie pas, je le reprendrai avec plaisir et en bonne route." Jean-Pierre Granger fut d'abord l'élève de Jean-Baptiste Regnault avant de rejoindre Antoine-Jean Gros dans celui de Jacques-Louis David. En 1800, il devint lauréat du premier prix de Rome de peinture d'histoire avec Antiochus renvoie son fils à Scipion (Paris, École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts) tandis que son condisciple Jean-Dominique Ingres recevait le second prix.
