Tapas y lomos con desgaste por uso. Segunda edición de la Real Academia. <b>Ejemplar completo</b> con su encuadernación original. Ligeras manchas de oxidación en algunas hojas.</p><p>Dos años después de la edición académica de Joaquín Ibarra en 1780 la Real Academia Española publica una nueva edición del Quijote en un formato menor: cuatro volúmenes en 8º. Las razones de la reducción del formato se explican en el prólogo: El general aplauso con que fue recibida la edición de Don Quixote publicada por la Academia en quatro tomos en cuarto real el año de 1780 la hizo pensar desde luego en repetir la impresión de suerte que el Público pudiese tenerla por un precio moderado respecto a que el de la primera no pudo ser tan cómodo como la Academia hubiera querido por el grande costo que tuvo . Pero esta edición de 1782 no ha de entenderse como una simple reducción de formato de la primera ya que se modificará también el texto crítico y el programa iconográfico. Para la edición del texto se tuvieron en cuenta diversas ediciones <b>que en el prólogo se especifican</b>: La corrección se ha hecho con igual cuidado que en la grande. Para la primera parte se tuvieron presentes la primera edición hecha en Madrid por Juan de la Cuesta el año de 1605 y la segunda hecha también en Madrid y por el mismo impresor año de 1608. El texto se arregló a la primera y se conservaron las variantes de la segunda aun aquella que no son substanciales y que solo varían en la pronunciación por la mudanza o substracción de alguna letra. La segunda parte de ella no la publicó Cervantes hasta diez años después de la primera. Para su corrección se tuvieron presentes la primera hecha en Madrid por Juan de la Cuesta año de 1615 y la segunda hecha en Valencia por Pedro Patricio Mey año de 1616. El texto se arregló a la de Madrid y se conservaron las variantes de la de Valencia . Por su parte se introduce un nuevo programa iconográfico compuesto de 24 estampas todas ellas dibujadas por Isidro y Antonio Carnicero y grabadas por distintos maestros. Como también sucediera en la edición de 1780 la Real Academia Española eligió los motivos teniendo en cuenta que no coincideran con los aparecidos en 1780: La Academia con el deseo de publicar quanto antes esta edición y poderla dar con la mayor comodidad posible había pensado hacerla sin láminas. Pero reflexionando después que acaso no parecería bien al Público acostumbrado ya a ver siempre la Historia de D. Quixote con láminas resolvió ponérselas y que fuesen bien trabajadas a cuyo fin se valio para los dibujos de Don Isidoro y Don Antonio Carnicero Profesores que tienen bien acreditada su habilidad y para el grabado de los mas diestros grabadores cuyos nombres se ven en las mismas láminas. Les pareció conveniente no repetir las que se pusieron en la edición grande y así se han variado en esta casi todas a excepción de una ú otra creyendo que esta variedad no será desagradable al Público. Compilador: Francisco del paso y Troncoso; advertencia de él mismo al final del Tomo I. Textos a partir de manuscrito original enviando por Cervantes a España en 1567 y se publica el manuscrito hacia 1575. La obra permanece guardada en la Biblioteca Nacional y es en 1914 que sale a la luz el primer tomo. Ejemplar completo con mapa de las costas descubiertas a doble página en TI. La publicación de los siguientes tomos se ve interrumpida por la repentina muerte de Francisco del Paso Italia 1916 y es hasta 1936 que se logran publicar quedando así la obra completa.</p><p>Cervantes fue rector de la Universidad de 1567 a 1568 y luego de 1573 a 1574. En 1558 obtuvo el cargo de cronista de la ciudad de México y en 1571 fue nombrado consultor del Santo Oficio. Murió en Nueva España el 14 de noviembre de 1575. Las fuentes de Cervantes fueron: las cartas de Relación de Cortés las memorias de Alonso de Ojeda y Andrés de Tapia capitanes del grupo de Cortés las memorias de Motolinía el trabajo de López de Gomara y la información por él recopilada en México.</p> Hauser y Mente
