Die Werbrouck-de Wael's werden als eine Familie aus Antwerpen identifiziert, auch im Besitz eines "Van Reusel", als Lehrer an der "Mechelen Middelbare School" um 1885 beschrieben. Es folgt der Musikwissenschaftler und Stadtarchivar Raymond Van Aerde (1876 - 1944) aus Mechelen, ab dann im Besitz der Druckerfamilie Godenne, zunächst Leopold Godenne (1850 - 1922) in Mechelen, der auch selbst zur Stadtgeschichte publizierte, dann Willy Godenne (1903 - 19983) zunächst Drucker in Mechelen, dann zusammen mt Jos Léonard Werbegraphiker im "Studio Novio", später auch stadtgeschichtlicher und buchkundlicher Autor in Brüssel, der möglicherweise diese Informationen als letzter Eigentümer selbst eingetragen hat. Im ersten Band die gestochene Tafel "Pl. I Agriculture, labourage" "Gravé sous la Dir.[ection] de Chr.[istian] de Mechel à Basle en 1770", sowie die mehrfach gefaltete Tafel mit dem "Systeme Figure des Conoissances Humaines". Die Enzyklopädie beginnt mit einer Widmung de Félices an den Mitautor Albert Haller, den bedeutendsten zeitgenössischen schweizer Gelehrten. Beigebunden auch ein "Avis aux Souscripteurs" der erklärt, warum die Tafelbände erst nach Erscheinen des letzten Textbandes folgen werden. Mit zahlreichen in den Text eingedruckten Tabellen und Notenbeispielen, oft auch am Schluß oder am Ende der einzelnen Lemmata kleinen Vignetten. Band 19 z.B. mit 11 unpaginierten - aber imaginiert mitgezählten - Blättern Schriftmustertafeln zwischen den Seiten 732 und 755. Die Tafeln teils erratisch eingebunden, jedoch bis auf zwei Doppeltafeln (33 und 34) am Schluß des letzten Tafelbandes die offensichtlich bei der Produktion vergessen wurden beizubinden, vollständig. Die fehlenden Tafeln zeigen Grundriß und Seitenansicht einer Manufaktur. Dafür in Tafelband IV im Abschnitt "IV. Eperonnier" zwei Tafeln mehr als im "Hinweis für den Buchbinder" angegeben. Gefaltete Tafeln, "doubles" oder "triples", sogar "quadruples" dann zwei- bzw. dreifach, oder vierfach gezählt, also insgesamt 1408 Kupferstiche, statt der 1410 laut der Inhaltsverzeichnisse. Hinzu kommen noch die weiter oben genannten Tafeln, die den Textbänden beigebunden wurden und hier nicht mitgezählt wurden. Wenige Einrisse, oft und durchgehend kleinste Brandlöcher, wohl durch einen rauchenden Leser oder durch die Benutzung von Kerzenlicht verursacht. Vereinzelt auch Bräunungen, die durch Feuchtigkeit entstanden sind. Die meisten Bände sind aus mehreren unterschiedlichen Büttenlagen zusammengestellt worden, so daß sich dickeres und dünneres Büttenpapier, besseres und schlechteres in einem Band und mit unterschiedlicher Erhaltung und Tönung finden läßt. Band 13 (?) mit Wasserspur im unteren Drittel der ersten 80 Seiten. Band 37 auf den ersten Blättern ebenfalls mit Feuchtigkeitsspur, Band 39 mit vereinzelten Flecken, meist im oberen weißen Rand. Die ersten Bände mit zahlreichen Paginierungsfehlern, jedoch ohne Textverlust, dann immer seltener, ab Band 10 hat der Drucker das Problem weitestgehend in den Griff bekommen, Band 17 allerdings wieder massiv fehlpaginiert, minimale Zählfehler jedoch in fast jedem Band, die dann jedoch schnell erkannt und abgestellt wurden. * The last text volume, (vol. 42) and two etchings are missing, otherwise complete. - Le dernier volume avec texte, tome 42 et deux planches manquent, sinon complet. * In vielen uns zugänglichen Texten, ob print oder online, wird die Auflagenhöhe der vorliegenden Ausgabe noch immer abweichend zu Darnton a.a.O. (Seite 308; Anmerkung 15/ page 20, footnote 15), der aus einem Brief Félices vom 16. Juli 1779 an die STN (= Société Typographique de Neuchâtel) zitiert in dem der Herausgeber und Drucker selbst 1600 Exemplare als Druckauflage nennt, mit 3000 Exemplaren angegeben. Diese 1600 Exemplare würden zu der Mitteilung passen, die der niederländische Großbuchhändler Gosse schon am 18. Januar 1771 in einem ebenfalls erhaltenen Brief an die STN schrieb: er habe 3/4 der Ausgabe (für Nordeuropa) und die Société Typographique de Berne das restliche Viertel (für Deutschland) zum Vertrieb gekauft. Ebenfalls am 16. Juli 1779 schrieb der Sohn, Pierre Gosse jr. der STN, daß er noch alle 1600 Exemplare erhalten würde, der letzte Band erschien bekanntlich 1780. Diese Informationen flossen, da man mit diesen "Typographischen Gesellschaften" kooperierte. Auch die UNESCO (https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000079624) folgt Darnton: "... Encyclopédie d'Yverdon, printed between 1770 and 1780 at 1,600 copies ...", aber auch Harvard und die niederländische Nationalbibliothek. Und noch einmal zur Klarstellung, die Yverdoner-Enzyklopädie ist auch kein "Raubdruck", sondern eine eigenständige Überarbeitung und Ergänzung der Pariser-Urausgabe: "(...) Im Unterschied zur 1777 - 79 in Lausanne und Bern erschienenen "Taschenausgabe" im Oktavformat ist die dem Mitautor Albrecht von Haller gewidmete E. nicht nur ein Nachdruck der Pariser Enzyklopädie. Zwar blieb das Werk Denis Diderots und Jean Le Rond d'Alemberts die Hauptquelle, doch de Felice wollte sich vom grossen Vorbild unterscheiden und schuf die Enzyklopädie teilweise neu. Die Sigle (N) kennzeichnet die zahlreichen neuen, (R) die überarbeiteten und (*) die vervollständigten Artikel. Die E. verarbeitete die neuesten wissenschaftl. Erkenntnisse und war im Vergleich zur Pariser Enzyklopädie weniger von der franz. Kultur dominiert und weniger religionsfeindlich ausgerichtet. Deshalb wurde sie auch die "prot." Enzyklopädie genannt und fand im nördl. Europa weite Verbreitung. (...)" "Kapitel 3: Die Enzyklopädisten und ihr Werk. 3.4.2.7 Encyclopédie d'Yverdon (1770-1780) ... Zwar befürwortete De Félice viele Ansätze der philosophes, wofür die große Anzahl von Diderot übernommener Artikel insbesondere in den Themenbereichen Handel und Mechanik spricht. Allerdings setzte er in anderen Hinsichten deutlich andere Akzente, da über die Hälfte der Artikel neu war. Damit erhielt die Encyclopédie d'Yverdon einen vollkommen neuen Zuschnitt und wird als refonte, als Neuguss, bezeichnet. Entsprechend zählt Groult sie zu den Nachfolgern der Encyclopédie. Die Encyclopédie d'Yverdon zeichnete sich dadurch aus, dass sie europäischer konzipiert war und nicht wie die Pariser Ausgabe hinsichtlich Frankreichs auf einen nationalen Markt passgenau zugeschnitten war. Zwar muss ihre Einstellung zu religiösen oder ethischen Aspekten als konservativer eingeschätzt werden als das Werk der französischen Philosophen, dennoch zeichnete sich die Schweizer Encyclopédie aufgrund der qualitativ hochwertigen Beiträge renommierter Wissenschaftler wie Haller oder Euler durch wissenschaftliche Vorzüge sowie durch einen gewissen Liberalismus aus. "Through the Yverdon Encyclopédie De Felice made the particularly Swiss brand of lumières known to the rest of Europe: nonsectarian pietism, open-mindedness, scientific curiosity, liberalism, and tolerance." Ein weiterer interessanter Punkt, der diese Enzyklopädie von Diderots Encyclopédie unterscheidet, lässt sich darin sehen, in welcher Logik Diderot und De Félice ihre Werke sahen. Wo Diderot sich auch dem Fortschritt verpflichtet fühlte und zukünftige Entwicklungen zu antizipieren suchte, sah der italienische Gelehrte diesen Punkt deutlich anders. Für ihn war eine Enzyklopädie in erster Linie "a storehouse of great ideas of the past", mehr noch als Originalität stand für ihn der Nutzen und die Zuverlässigkeit eines solchen Werkes im Vordergrund. Die Encyclopédie d'Yverdon richtete sich an eine internationale Leserschaft und erreichte die Schweiz, Paris und französische Provinzen; darüber hinaus Spanien, Portugal, Deutschland, Österreich, Böhmen, Polen, die Niederlande und England. Auch Italien wollte De Félice zu seinem Markt zählen, jedoch gestaltete sich der Verkauf aufgrund seiner Exkommunikation als problematisch. ‎Édition originale des deux chefs-d'oeuvre de Diderot placés en tête de l'ouvrage : Les Deux amis de Bourbonne et l'Entretien d'un père avec ses enfants. Le faux-titre porte Contes Moraux de Mr. D.Premier tirage des illustrations de Gessner, 11 figures, 3 en-têtes et 12 culs-de-lampe dessinés et gravés à l'eau-forte par Salomon Gessner lui-même. S'étonnant du mélange des contes réalistes de Diderot avec les fades idylles de Gessner, l'abbé de Vauxcelles s'exclamait : Ce sont des satyres parmi des nymphes. Les deux contes de Diderot furent écrits après le voyage qu'il entreprit à Bourbonne et Langres en 1770.
