Book is in excellent condition with only a light stain at the base of the spine. There are a few tiny spots on the spine and two very small holes in the outer spine gutter. Pages clean and unmarked. 128 pages. Beige linen-covered slipcase with paper label bearing the title and the number of the limited edition has moderate wear mild sunning to the closed end and chipping around the edges of the label. Bound in the original mauve cloth yellow pastedowns and endpapers all edges gilt neat ownership stamp to front endleaf head and foot of spine fine outer hinges fine inner hinges renewed short closed tear to frontis expertly repaired general overall handling still a VERY GOOD copy. This was the last edition published in the same year as the original issue which was done on Christmas eve. By the end of the next year 1844 13 editions had been printed. According to John Eckel "A Christmas Carol" was published on December 19th 1843 and sold 6000 copies on the first day. Before the end of the year eleven days later it was in the third edition with the combined number of copies of the second and third editions being estimated at only two to three thousand copies.
