Copy belonging to Marguerite Chapman who played Sue Curry in the film with a few annotations in holograph pencil at the inclusion of her character's lines. Laid in is a singing telegram birthday greeting for Chapman from Evelyn Keys in its original telex envelope. A Japanese aircraft carrier is headed to Pearl Harbor December 6 1941 when it encounters an American yacht and sinks it. Sue Curry Chapman is the yacht's sole survivor and she is picked up by an American submarine which intercepts the proposed attack on Pearl Harbor and tries to warn American forces in advance. The next day they hear news of the attack over the radio and devise a plan to have the carrier pursue their submarine instead of heading to its intended target. Set in the Pacific Ocean. Tan titled self wrappers noted as Revised Final Draft on the front wrapper dated February 21 1942 with credits for screenwriter Aubrey Wisberg. 107 leaves with last page of text numbered 110. Written by and starring the Zucker brothers the duo who would eventually make their fame with similarly irreverent comedy hits like "Airplane!" 1980 "Top Secret!" 1984 and "The Naked Gun" series this film was also Landis' second film as director his first being "Schlock" 1973. Because of his work on the film Landis would go on to direct the cult classic "National Lampoon's Animal House" 1978 at the suggestion of several members from the cast of comedy troupes The Groundlings and The Second City. Spoofs and comedy skits including a Kung-Fu parody Catholic school girls "Feel-A-Round" futuristic movie theaters and segue news shows. Several sketches not included in the final cut are present in the script including "Slapstick" "Mark VI" "Pocket Fisherman" "Sherlette Chromatic" "Jacques Boosteau" "Alpha 2" "Miracle Cup" and more. Issue No. 262 of "Illustrierter Film-Kurier" one of the oldest European film magazines which ran weekly from 1929 to 1956. Original program for the London premiere of the film on March 21st 1927 at the Marble Arch Pavilion preceded in English by the US release earlier that month but with different title cards. Director Lang's expressionist masterpiece based on the novel and written for the screen by then-wife von Harbou one of the most enduring and influential films of the silent era. In addition to the normal synopsis photos and quotes from the actors the program presents pieces on the film's groundbreaking special effects and camerawork and most interestingly a side-by-side comparison of a portion of the film script with von Harbou's novel published the previous year. Any original paper relating to "Metropolis" is scarce with a 2012 post in Peter Harrington's blog ranking this program among the most difficult items. Very Good plus in stapled wrappers. Berlin: Nero-Film A. G. 1931. Original vintage German publicity photo of PETER LORRE in the legendary film classic "M" directed by Fritz Lang. Berlin: Nero-Film A. G. 1931. This stunning image shows Lorre as the murderer confronted by the blind balloon seller who recognizes his distinctive whistle thus setting Lorre's capture in motion. Exceedingly rare photo recently found in an old untouched US archive having originated as an oversized German negative which was re-purposed for use in Denmark as evidenced by the Danish Film Censor's mark "statens" at the bottom which is baked into the negative and then presumably arrived here as a collector's rarity . Glossy single-weight roughly 8" x 10" gelatin silver print. It shows overall wear from handling and it has many faint creases plus stains on reversewhich do not bleed through to the front yet retains eye appeal. "M" remains one of the most famous films of world cinema. It provided the initial blueprint for the entire genre now labeled psychological thriller. "M" original posters sell from $15000 to $50000.
