Laid in is a typed letter signed dated January 28 1977 from noted agent Paul Kohner on Kohner's stationery encouraging Huston to read the script and consider directing the film: "Dear John / Please find enclosed copy of the screenplay of PYJAMA GIRL / the Australian project about which we spoke this evening. / Fondly / Paul / P.S. / This is not yet a firm offer John but it may well be one by Monday." Huston did not direct the film instead it became an Italian-Spanish co-production shot in Australia and directed by Flavio Mogherini based on one of Australia's most famous unsolved murders. A little seen but curious entry into the giallo canon lacking the usual shocking moments of most giallos the film would not receive a wide release or any at all in the US until 2006 DVD by Blue Underground Teal titled wrappers. Dr. Andre Marbel Sanders is a seemingly apolitical Parisian doctor who is actually a resistance leader. His nurse Yvonne Marshall is equally apolitical more than her disillusioned husband Jean Dorn. Jean decides to join the Resistance though he and several others die in the fight against the Germans. Several of the film's crew and cast were actual French refugees including director Moguy and husband-and-wife supporting actors Marcel Dalio and Madeleine LeBeau. Tan titled wrappers noted as Shooting Final on the front wrapper rubber-stamped copy No. 1 and production No. 856 dated May 1 1943. Distribution page present with receipt intact. Based on a novel presumed by screenwriter Clavel. Philippe Auclair is an unsung artist with a mistress he does not love. He spends leisurely vacations at Paule's Presle in the Riviera where he meets Manette Petit a poor girl whom he befriends and lusts for to the chagrin of Manette herself under the romantic allure of Philippe. Laid in is a single typescript leaf author unknown dated 9/8/69 detailing the story outline and noting the possibility of actor Max von Sydow taking on the lead role of "Falkenstein" the commanding officer of the German POW's. Sydow would ultimately not take part in the film. Brief notation in holograph ink on two pages. Based on a story by Andrea Barbato whose film credits include "Kill Me Quick I'm Cold" 1967 "Morel's Invention" 1974 and the television mini-series "Caravaggio" 1967. The story involves German deserters and their trial by fellow POWs inside a prisoner of war camp in the waning days of WWII the fifth day of peace to be exact. Blue titled wrappers.
