Notable for starring a young Taylor Mead.<br /> <br /> Director screenwriter and star Raymond Phelan best known as cinematographer for sexploitation impresario Doris Wishman originally began making "Too Young Too Immoral!" in 1957 about a brother reflecting on the tragically short life of his murdered addict brother. This early version was titled "Rebels Die Young." <br /> <br /> Unable to find distribution Phelan added what turned out to be some of the earliest known sexploitation scenes filmed in the US. It starred Brenda Denaut subject of this photograph the mother of Roseanne Patricia David and Alexis Arquette. as well as Andy Warhol mainstay Taylor Mead in his first film role. <br /> <br /> It wouldn't be until five years later after sexploitation films began to gain traction with US distributors that Phelan was able to get the film booked at the Rialto Theatre on Broadway. It played for four months there before getting limited US distribution. It re-emerged in 2017 when it was screened at the Anthology Film Archives in New York. Copy belonging to an unidentified cast or crew member with annotations noting deletions to two pages.<br /> <br /> Two bizarre one-act plays one about a woman living in a warped Key West bunkhouse who earns her keep by trying to catch fish thrown aground by hurricanes the other about two whores and a shoplifter at a flophouse in New Orleans on Christmas Eve. Although the production was a critical failure closing after seven performances actor Zoe Caldwell received the first of her four Tony Awards for her turn in "Gnadiges Fräulein." <br /> <br /> Red titled Studio Duplicating Service wrappers with credit for Williams. Gentilly FR: Ateliers Lalande 1962. Original French poster for the 1962 British film. <br /> <br /> The early 1960s take on Gaston Laroux's novel done in Hammer horror fashion. A very accessible version and probably the least ponderous little seen today but considered second only to the 1925 Lon Chaney version by cinephiles. The film was originally written for Cary Grant who had a strange urge to do a horror film at the time but eventually went to the great Herbert Lom. Lom parodied his own portrayal of the phantom 15 years later as the mad Inspector Dreyfuss in "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" 1976. <br /> <br /> 43.5 x 61.5 inches. Rolled on archival linen.
