Jacksonville FL: Norman Film Studios 1919. Original US one sheet poster for the 1919 silent film like all of the Norman Studio films featuring an all-African American cast and marketed to African-American movie theaters. <br/><br/>Norman Studios produced eight silent films between 1915 and 1928 one of over 30 film studios that operated in Jacksonville Florida during this era. All but one of the Norman Studio films including "The Green-Eyed Monster" are now lost with the sole exception being "The Flying Ace" 1926. The advent of sound as well as the increasing centralization of filmmaking in Hollywood led to the studio ceasing production after "Black Gold" in 1928. The studio's facilities in Jacksonville were restored and designated a National Historic Landmark in 2016. <br/><br/>The film's story centers on a passionate love triangle intercut with a vicious competition between two train companies to land a high-dollar mail contract. As with this poster Norman went to great lengths to advertise the expense of the film's action sequences including a rescue from burning car fist fights a pistol duel an abduction a locomotive chase and a violent train wreck that purportedly cost $80000. <br/><br/>27 x 41 inches. One with mimeo snipe on the verso.<br/><br/>Based on Sir Thomas Malory's 1485 "Le Morte d'Arthur" Richard Thorpe's "Knights of the Round Table" was MGM's first CinemaScope film. The second in an unofficial adventure trilogy by producer Pandro S. Berman and director Thorpe preceded by "Ivanhoe" 1952 and followed by "The Adventures of Quentin Durward" 1955.<br/><br/>Nominated for two Academy Awards and nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1954 Cannes Film Festival.<br/><br/>Set in and shot on location in Ireland and England. <br/><br/>8 x 10 inches. Beverly Hills CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer MGM 1962. Collection of 11 vintage single weight studio still photographs from 1962 5 photos and 1969 re-release 6 photos of the 1954 film under the title "Student Prince." Starring actor Purdom who played the prince is prominently featured sometimes sword fighting. <br/><br/>One image from the set is shown. Please inquire for others.<br/><br/>Based on the 1924 operetta of the same name by Sigmund Romberg and Dorothy Donnelly which in turn was based on the 1901 play "Old Heidelburg" by Wilhelm Eyer-Forster itself filmed four times between 1915 and 1959. <br/><br/>Mario Lanza was originally slated to star in the film but a dispute with MGM led him to getting fired from the picture. However MGM retained the rights to his already recorded vocals and had replacement Purdom lip sync them in the film. Ironically the songs "Beloved" and "Serenade" would become heavily associated with Lanza after the film and cast recording were hits. Edmund Gwenn has a supporting role years after his enchanting starring role as Kris Kringle in "Miracle on 34th St" 1947.<br/><br/>8 x 10 inches. Copy belonging to Marguerite Chapman who played Cecilia Grange with her name in holograph pencil on the title page. With holograph pencil annotations throughout. <br/><br/>Steve O'Brien a quiet executive at a shipping firm meets a woman Ball at the opera leading him to see his current life and girlfriend Chapman as boring. Despite this woman having a significant other Murphy who is being discharged from the Navy soon and is planning to propose Steve quickly falls for her and sets about romancing her. <br/><br/>Yellow titled wrappers. Blue revision leaves bound in at the beginning of the document never inserted into the principal script. Distribution page laid in with receipt removed. Title page present dated September 25 1940 noted as Revised Estimating Script. 178 leaves with last page of text numbered 147. Mimeograph duplication. <br/><br/>Principal script pages all dated between 9/25/40 and 9/27/40. Blue revision pages dated between 10/2/40 and 10/30/40.
