Souvent simplement nommé « Torga », l?écrivain engagé contre la dictature de Salazar est surtout connu comme diariste, poète et auteur de contes et nouvelles. Si son ?uvre est largement traduite et dépasse l?espace national et le siècle qui l?ont vu naître, son écriture dramatique est négligée par les spécialistes qui abordent ses textes à l?international. Cet ouvrage est la première étude approfondie qui se consacre au théâtre de Miguel Torga, quatre pièces écrites durant les années 1940 (Terra Firme, Mar, O Paraíso et Sinfonia, dont les trois premières seulement sont disponibles) auxquelles pour l?instant seules quelques brèves publications ont été consacrées.
