‎Mythos generell und der Troja-Mythos im besonderen, der sich vor allem um die Gestalten von Paris und Helena rankt, war immer schon offen für unterschiedliche Deutungen, konnte daher auch für die Vermittlung politischer oder ideologischer Botschaften „maniuliert“ werden. In diesem Buch werden zwei unterschiedliche und doch vergleichbarte Beispiele präsentiert: Ovid läßt in Heroides 16 und 17 bzw. Heroides 5 Paris und Helena bzw. Die von Paris verlassene Nymphe Oenone den Mythos von Urteil des Paris und dessen Liebe zu Helena jeweils anders erzählen. Es handelt sich dabei nicht bloß um literarisches Spiel, sondern Ovid reflektiert auf einer Metaebene allgemein über das Problem der Manipulierbarkeit des Mythos, im speziellen des Mythos über Troja und Aeneas durch Vergil, zum Zweck panegyrischer Aussagen. Am Ende des 11. Jh. Dichtet Baudri von Bourgueil ebenfalls ein Versepistelpaar, in dem er zeigt, wie Paris und Helena ihren eigenen Mythos bzw. Dessen allegorische Aussage mißverstehen und derart ins Unglück stürzen. Dasselbe Problem der richtigen, d. H. Nicht manipulierenden Deutung von Mythos (und der Dichtung, die von solchen Mythen handelt) , liegt auch dem poetischen Brief Baudris an die Nonne Constantia und deren vom Dichter fingierten Antwort zugrunde – ein Problem, das Baudri persönlich betraf, da er wegen seiner Dichtungen in ovidischem Stil Kritik ausgesetzt war. ; Collection Latomus Volume 334; 105 pages‎

Provenance : Cachet de l'hopital de la charité et des HCL (Hospices civil de Lyon) avec cachet annulation.Cachet de l'académie scientifique et littéraire et artistique de Lyon. Ces livres ont été transférés lors de la démolition de l'hopital de la charité à l'Hotel Dieu . Ils ont été vendu par l'hotel Dieu pour permettre des travaux de rénovation de la chapelle.‎

‎Théophile Raynaud né à Sospello (Sospel en français), dans le Comté de Nice, peut-être en 1584, et mort à Lyon le 31 octobre 1663, est un jésuite, auteur de plusieurs ouvrages théologiques en langue latine. Trois de ses traités furent censurés par l'Inquisition : de Martyrio per pestem (Le Martyre par la peste) de Communione pro mortuis (La Communion pour les morts) de Confixione Librorum (La Composition des Livres) Cet ouvrage traite bien sur des saints propres de Lyon , de la piété des Lyonnais pour l'immaculée conception... L'impression est soignée superbes bandeaux et lettrines historiées beau frontispice gravé et titre aux armes de Lyon Provenance historique pour Lyon puisque après la disparition de la charité démolie, l'hotel Dieu est actuellement en plein rehabilitation, les hopitaux étant maintenant en périphérie.‎

Second edition.<br /><br />Alonso de la Rea was born in Queretaro in 1610. He wrote his Cronica in 1637-1639 providing data on Michoacán and Jalisco. For many matters he leaned heavily on Torquemada who in turn had copied them from Mendieta. Ricard quoting an 18th century opinion mentions that Rea lacked interest in chronology to an excessive degree. His work was however an official and methodical chronicle of the province preserving considerable detail about it. Rea's Cronica . 1639 was first published in 1643 and is now a bibliographical rarity. The volume is divided into three books totaling 92 chapter. Book 1 describes the region products people their dealings with Aztecs their general traits religious rites the last native emperors and coming of the Spaniards. This is followed by arrival of the Franciscan missionaries with biographies of some of these pioneer friars. Book 2 begins with the division of the province between Michoacán and Jalisco 1606 and contains numerous biographies of the members of that order. Book 3 is also a series of lives and an account of the Custodio del Rio Verde. The second edition was published in Mexico 1882. It includes additional relevant documents in three appendices. At the end of the text there is a table of contents but no index.<br /><br />George McClelland Foster Jr born in Sioux Falls South Dakota on October 9 1913 died on May 18 2006 at his home in the hills above the campus of the University of California Berkeley where he served as a professor from 1953 to his retirement in 1979 when he became professor emeritus. His contributions to anthropological theory and practice still challenge us; in more than 300 publications his writings encompass a wide diversity of topics including acculturation long-term fieldwork peasant economies pottery making public health social structure symbolic systems technological change theories of illness and wellness humoral medicine in Latin America and worldview. The quantity quality and long-term value of his scholarly work led to his election to the National Academy of Sciences in 1976. Limited to 100 copies of which this is number 55.<br /><br />Gerónimo de Aguilar O.F.M. 1489-1531 was a Franciscan friar born in Écija Spain. In 1511 Aguilar left Panama on a caravel sailing to Santo Domingo accompanying the procurator Juan de Valdivia. They were shipwrecked near the Yucatán Peninsula due to bad weather but Aguilar along with a sailor from Palos in Spain Gonzalo Guerrero were two of fifteen survivors. Strong currents brought them in their ship's boat to the coast of the modern-day Mexican state of Quintana Roo. Aguilar and the others were captured by the local Maya and scheduled to be sacrificed to Maya gods. He and Gonzalo Guerrero eventually managed to escape later to be taken as a slave by another Mayan chief named Xamanzana.1 Here he and Guerrero were able to learn the language of their captors. Aguilar lived as a slave during his eight years with the Maya. Guerrero became chief in time of war for Nachan Kaan Lord of Chektumal married a rich Maya woman and fathered the first mestizo children of Mexico. Hernán Cortés invaded Mexico in 1519. Aguilar joined the expedition. Speaking both Maya and Spanish he and La Malinche who could speak Maya and Nahuatl translated for Cortés during the Conquest of Mexico. His usefulness in that capacity ended once La Malinche had learned Spanish. Aguilar died in 1531 in an unknown location. His house in Mexico City later became the home of the first printing press to operate in the New World.<br /><br />Condition:<br /><br />Foster's stamp on front wrapper spine heal and corners bumped some age darkening to spine and edges else a very good to fine copy.
