La concezione dell'interpretazione di Abel amplia quella dell'ermeneutica classica, mostrando come ogni forma del nostro percepire, parlare, pensare e agire siano legati a una pratica interpretativa. L'idea tradizionale di una verità come corrispondenza, propria di ogni concezione essenzialistica, viene riformulata attraverso un'indagine dei processi di organizzazione e di costruzione delle percezioni e degli schemi d'interpretazione.I saggi raccolti forniscono una rappresentazione unitaria della filosofia dei segni e dell'interpretazione di Abel e dello sforzo compiuto di farsi carico di alcuni aspetti centrali della realtà contemporanea, quali il valore della democrazia e del pluralismo o il crescente predominio dei mondi dell'immagine. La riformulazione del linguistic turn dominante nella filosofia contemporanea permette ad Abel un confronto serrato con taluni aspetti della tradizione filosofica, da Kant a Nietzsche, da Wittgenstein ad Heidegger. A few pages have small closed tears previous owner name and a very few penciled marks on end papers. Ends of pages are a little dusty pages are honey colored from age. Excellent read. A good book to enjoy and keep on hand. Or would make a great gift for the fan / reader in your life. Review: In his book Science and Sanity Alfred Korzybski succeeds in presenting to his readers a distillation of many seemingly diverse branches of knowledge including: Anthropology Biology Education Logic Mathematics Neurology Physics Physiology Psychiatry Semantics etc. Specialists in the above mentioned disciplines may be disappointed or even insulted at Korzybski's general integrative style. However Korzybski was mainly concerned about extracting the aspects of the above mentioned disciplines that have the most human value. Korzybski's attitude was definitely NOT science for science's sake. Instead he sought to integrate diverse branches of knowledge into a system that would be simple enough to teach to young children so that each young child would begin life with the knowledge and wisdom that took the human race centuries of labor to achieve. Of course if this goal could actually be achieved the progression and survival of the human race would be greatly enhanced! Although Science and Sanity is certainly a difficult book to read and understand Korzybski's system can be easily taught to young children. The reason for this is that Korzybski summarized his system as a non-verbal diagram. Probably the wisdom of thousands of books are represented non-verbally on that diagram! It's true that one must know what the different parts of the diagram represent in order to appreciate or understand it; however Korzybski's system is certainly unique in that one can explain the system to another while referring pointing to a diagram. This visual aid called the Structural Differential could be used in the education of young children as a way of simply and easily imparting the wisdom of the ages. Note: Science and Sanity uses some abbreviations throughout the book. There are charts on pages 15 and 16 that explain these. Don't miss those charts or you'll miss the whole book!. Fine and clean. � The seminal first printing of Kripke's debut article which provided the basis for his logic and for the model theory for modal logic in general. The work constitutes the very beginning of Kripke Semantics often called possible world semantics. <br><br>Kripke's works in general are rare in fist editions. Many of them remain unpublished and are only known in privately circulated manuscripts.<br><br>The American philosopher Saul A. Kripke born 1940 is an exceedingly important logician and philosopher of language and one of the most powerful and influential thinkers of analytic and Anglo-American philosophy. He is considered the greatest living philosopher and perhaps the greatest since Wittgenstein. In 2001 he was awarded the Schock Prize in Logic and Philosophy which is considered the philosopical equivalent of the Nobel Prize.<br><br>Kripke who grew up in Omaha in a religious Jewish family was somewhat of a prodigy child. During grammar school he got intimately acquainted with and mastered to perfection algebra geometry and calculus and very early on he took up philosophy which later became his career. Still a teenager in high school he wrote a work that was to change the face of philosophical logic forever namely the groundbreaking paper "A Completeness Theorem for Modal Logic" which was printed a few years later in 1959 in the Journal of Symbolic Logic while he was in his first year at Harvard University. This seminal debut work proposed what later came to be known as Kripke models for modal logic. The story goes that the paper earned a letter from the department of mathematics urging Kripke to apply for a job there to which he is said to have written an answer explaining "My mother said that I should finish high school and go to college first."<br><br>In 1962 he graduated from Harvard University where he remained until 1968 first as a member of the Harvard Society of Fellows and then as a lecturer. During these years he developed the logical theories founded in the "Completeness Theorem" further and made seminal contributions to the field of logic and semantics. <br><br>Kripke Semantics is a formal semantics for non-classical logic systems that Kripke began developing in his teenage years first published something on in 1959 the present work and further developed in the 60'ies and. The development of Kripke Semantics was no less than a breakthrough in the making of non-classical logics of which no model theory existed before Kripke's. <br>With this work Kripke laid the foundation for proving completeness theorems for modal logic and for identifying the weakest normal modal logic which is now named K after him. unknown

Il purista Leopoldo Rodinò (Palermo, 1810 – Napoli, 1832), autore di studi sulla lingua, si distinse per l'attività di beneficenza. Studiò e lavorò come insegnante a Napoli, dove morì nel 1882. Allievo e poi assistente di Basilio Puoti, aveva pubblicato nel 1848 una Grammatica novissima della lingua italiana ricomposta sopra quella compilata nello studio di Basilio Puoti (Napoli, Trani, 1857, seconda edizione), al cui disegno originario aveva contribuito anche Francesco De Sanctis. Nel Regno d'Italia ebbe impieghi al dipartimento della Pubblica Istruzione di Napoli e nel 1874 fu reggente alla Sovrintendenza dell'Archivio di Stato. Nel 1875 fu Consigliere comunale nella lista «Associazione Unitaria» formata da moderati e cattolici. Ebbe come allievo Benedetto Croce quando insegnava latino al Liceo del Collegio «La Carità». Questo icastico concetto nell'edizione che qui si ristampa è espresso in modo più circostanziato e argomentato nella Prefazione. Nella quarta edizione, «compendiata per uso delle scuole primarie e secondarie» (Napoli, Morano, 1870), Rodino sostituisce la Prefazione di undici pagine fitte - che «niuno leggeva né di quelli che vogliono scrivere bene, né di quelli che si contentano di scrivere in qualsiasi modo» - con due pagine, dal tono deciso, come appunto quello che caratterizza questa frase. Nella quinta edizione la Prefazione di undici pagine ricompare.
