A questa produzione appartiene una serie di poesie latine che l'autore non si preoccup� di conservare e di ordinare. La fortuna di tali carmi fu perci� disomogenea e accidentale; soltanto in un caso essi si presentano nella tradizione manoscritta riuniti sotto forma di una vera e propria antologia allestita da un anonimo compilatore attivo tra la fine del Trecento e l'inizio del Quattrocento. Questo ignoto ammiratore di Petrarca oltre al merito di aver salvato componimenti che si sarebbero altrimenti perduti ha anche quello di averli dotati di un corredo didascalico in prosa che permette almeno in parte di ricostruirne l'occasione il destinatario la data. Il volume pubblica il testo criticamente ricostruito tanto dei carmi petrarcheschi quanto delle rispettive rubriche in prosa dell'anonimo compilatore. Carmi e rubriche sono seguiti dalla traduzione italiana e da un commento che illustra il contesto che ha ispirato ciascun epigramma e analizza i possibili intrecci intertestuali con scritti di altri autori e dello stesso Petrarca. L'introduzione ripercorre la genesi dell'antologia e mette a fuoco le caratteristiche complessive di questi epigrammi che si collocano in un arco temporale decisivo nella biografia intellettuale di Petrarca e ci restituiscono i motivi ispiratori della sua lira: gnomica sentimentale religiosa politica bucolica. In good-very good condition with very little sign of use if any bottom edge of each book has a black mark pencil price mark inside Vol. IV has a small bump at part of the top fore-edge and front cover otherwise crisp and clean.
