‎Ein sehr gutes Exemplar. - Der "WEG NACH SIWA" von Verena von Hugo arbeitet mit derlei Resonanzen auf verschiedenen Ebenen. Vordergründig werden wir an die Tatsache erinnert, daß zwei Ereignisse den Lauf der Welt entscheidend bestimmt haben: Die Entstehung des Werkzeuges und die Geburt der Kunst (oder des Spiels). Die Geburt der Kunst steht ja in enger Beziehung zur Entstehung des Werkzeuges. Ja sie setzt deren Besitz voraus, denn ohne das Werkzeug und den damit verbundenen möglichen Tätigkeiten wäre die Kunst nicht denkbar. Aber gleichzeitig läßt die Kunst das Werkzeug, also die Arbeit, weit hinter sich: sie ist ein Protest gegen eine bestehende Welt, ohne welche freilich jene Auflehnung nicht hätte entstehen können. Gleichzeitig ist die Installation "WEG NACH SIWA" aber auch eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Zeit - also mit Vergangenheit und Zukunft. "Es gibt also seither im Geiste des Menschen zwei Arten von Dingen, deren eine schon da ist und deren andere erst erscheinen muß. Das Ding, das schon da ist, und somit eine Vergangenheit darstellt, vervollständigt diese zweifache Möglichkeit, und von da aus gewinnt schon das Künftige im Geiste Gestalt. Eine unter-scheidende, über das triebhafte Bellen hinausgehende Sprache ist in dem Augenblick möglich, in welchem sie, durch die Bezeichnung des Objektes, sich von selbst auf die Art, in welcher es ge-schaffen wurde, überträgt, also auf die Arbeit, deren erstes Stadium in die Verwendung des geschaffenen Objektes übergeht. So stellt die Sprache von jetzt ab das Ding dauerhaft in der Flucht der Zeiten auf. Das Ding entreißt den, der es bezeichnet, der Unmittelbarkeit des Sinnlichen, das er aber doch gesteigert dann wiederfindet, wenn er durch seine Arbeit nicht mehr das Nützliche, sondern das Kunstwerk schafft." (Georges Bataille) Helmut Metzner's Arbeiten deuten ebenfalls eine archaische Herkunft an. Auch hier das Verschlüsselte insofern, als das Abgebildete mehr bedeutet, als es darstellt. Vermeintlich eine Banalität in Bezug auf Kunst und insbesondere Malerei. Doch im Verhältnis von Metzner zu von Hugo einerseits und zu Rüppel andererseits notwendig zu betonen. Das Hell-Dunkel-Verhältnis in den Bildern, der körperliche Farbauftrag und die dadurch entstehende Räumlichkeit, die durch die feinen Einritzungen noch verstärkt wird, erinnern an die frühesten Zeiten. Die Oberflächenstruktur nimmt einen felsenartigen Charakter an und die filigranen Zisilierungen erscheinen wie Einschnitte und Brüche verwitterter Felsen. Dann nehmen sie plötzlich bildhafte Zeichen-Gestalt an und bekommen einen Sinnbezug, der über den gegenständlichen Befund des jeweilig Besonderen hinausführt ins Allgemeine und Grundsätzliche. In diesem Sinne ist "Wahrnehmung" hier als "Gewahrwerden" zu verstehen - hat also Einsichtcharakter und ist deshalb anspruchsvoll. Man ist erinnert an die Höhlenmalereien der frühesten Zeit, an den Hirschkopf von Lascaux, das magische Auge im Hypogeum von Hai Tarxien auf Malta. Zwar deutlicher bei Verena von Hugo, aber auch bei Helmut Metzner kommen Gedanken an emblematische Verfahren auf, die sich auf die Vorstellung gründen, daß die Welt in all ihren Erscheinungen von heimlichen Verweisungen und verborgenen Bedeutungen, von verdeckten, also entdeckungsfähigen Sinnbezügen bzw. Wahrheiten, erfüllt ist. Wolfgang Riippel hingegen wendet sich ganz von dem Gedanken an Sinnbildlichkeit ab. Triviale Gegenstände treten in den Vordergrund, sie lösen sich vom Hintergrund ab und wirken nur noch in sich selbst. Der Umgang mit Farbigkeit, Bildfläche und Bildtiefe deutet eher den Versuch ihrer Überwindung an. Das Bild wird zur Bildidee und die Suche nach dem dahinter scheint vergeblich. Natürlich entkommt kein Bild der Tatsache, daß es grundsätzlich eine Metaebene enthält, die schon allein durch die Zweideutigkeit des Verhältnisses von Kunstwerk und Betrachter entsteht. Das angestrebte Ideal, das Matterhorn im Alpenglühn, wird manchmal dadurch sichtbar, daß die trivialen Gegenstände keine andere Interpretation, keinen Blick hinter das Bildmotiv zulassen - der Gegenstand ist die Idee. Die Bilder verstummen, sie erzählen nicht mehr, als die bedeutungslose Präsenz des Offenkundigen. Über das hinaus was der Blick sowieso erfaßt, ist nichts zu sagen - außer man wiederholt dies ständig. ... (S. 8/9)‎

Esto se debe a que es una de esas tradiciones en las que literalmente muchos han metido mano de tal suerte que tiene distintos progenitores. El presente libro trata espec�ficamente de los sarapes elaborados en Guadalupe Zacatecas. La historia comienza con las haciendas obraje pasa luego a la Escuela de Artes y Oficios y de ah� a los talleres particulares. Se relata por primera vez la vida cotidiana de algunos de los tejedores m�s importantes de esta hermosa tradici�n textil. Cada uno de los artesanos que con empe�o cari�o y dedicaci�n se han dedicado a esta manifestaci�n pl�stica nos cuentan sus vicisitudes anhelos y esperanza. A pesar que fue muy conocido el sarape de Guadalupe ning�n especialista de arte popular le hab�a dedicado m�s de dos l�neas. La caracter�stica m�s especial de estos sarapes es que llevan tejido en el centro el retrato de alguna persona. Este rasgo los ha hecho �nicos no s�lo en M�xico sino en el mundo entero. La t�cnica y la maestr�a en el dise�o y la ejecuci�n les permitieron internacionalizarse. Por desgracia dicha tradici�n est� a punto de fenecer por diversos factores.
