The City-Mallad. 1682. These poems and satires are commentaries of topical subjects that are highly relevant to the seventeenth century. For example 'A Letany for the Fifth of November 1684' discusses the gun-powder plot. This anthology gives an idea of the political and social climate of the late seventeenth century. A fascinating collection of satires and poems by John Dryden Edmund Waller and Nicolas Boileau-Despreaux Most of these poems had not been printed before and appear here in their first edition form. ESTC Reference no. R24041. With the signatures; A1 B-E4 F1 D2 is stated as C2 and pages 33 and 34 are misnumbered as called for. D3 is closely trimmed to the bottom edge and therefore the catchword is lost. Condition: Disbound. Externally generally smart. Minor damp stain to the rear wrap. Repair to the rear wrap at the gutter towards the head of the page. This affects the first word to first few lines of page 34. Loss to the title page affecting the date of publication. Internally firmly bound. Closely cropped to several leaves affecting parts of the catchword or pagination. To D3 the catchword is lost in its entirety. Pages are generally bright.
