Jean Toth, né en 1899 à Zalaegerszeg en Hongrie et mort en 1972 à Paris en France, est un peintre et dessinateur français d'origine hongroise. À quinze ans, Jean Toth est le meilleur danseur de mazurka de la région, mais sa vocation est de peindre. À 19 ans, il part de Hongrie en passant par la Pologne et vient s'installer après un long voyage à Paris en 1921. Il fréquente alors La Grande-Chaumière dans le quartier du Montparnasse, où il côtoie Antoine Bourdelle et Roger Bissière. Il se rend célèbre dans la première moitié du xxe siècle pour ses dessins et aquarelles dédiés à la danse, qui sera une source d'inspiration durant toute sa vie, notamment pour une série réalisée pour l'Opéra Garnier dans les années 1930. En 1939, il s'engage dans la Légion étrangère et part pour Colomb-Béchar. Démobilisé en 1940, il passe les premières années de guerre à Roanne et revient à Paris en 1943. Après guerre, il continue son activité de peintre de la danse dans son atelier de la rue Vercingétorix et collabore également avec différents artistes, dont le décorateur sur porcelaine Camille Le Tallec. L'ouvre de Jean Toth est présente dans de nombreuses collections françaises et étrangères. L'opéra de Paris lui a acheté près de 250 dessins et peintures pour sa bibliothèque et lui a rendu un hommage post mortem. ‎The doctrine of the Three Bodies of a Buddha (Body of the Law, Body of Enjoyment and Transformation Body) is doubtless one of the principal tenets of Mahayana Buddhism. Two Chinese versions of the Sutra of Golden Light deal with this important conception in detail whereas the extant Sanskrit text does not contain this section. One of these translations which was carried out by the famous Buddhist scholar Yijing was again translated into Uygur and is well-known under the title Altun Yaruk Sudur. With regard to the number of extant copies the Altun Yaruk Sudur is the most important work in Uygur Buddhism. This translation which is attributed to ?i?ko ?äli Tutu? contains some longer glosses that are not to be found in any other version of the Sutra and display a special development of the doctrine of the Three Bodies. In this study the chapter in question is edited by making use of the famous manuscript which is housed in St. Petersburg in consideration of the variants found in the fragments of the Berlin Turfan Collection. The Berlin fragments are edited seperately as a whole in transcription and transliteration. A fresh translation is confronted with the original Uygur text. An extensive commentary and an Uygur-Chinese-Tibetan-Mongolian-German glossary complete the edition. In the introduction questions of textual tradition, parallels in other works and the problem of different translations into Uygur are discussed in detail.‎

De lezer leert hem kennen als een gedreven zoeker naar authenticiteit en als een begenadigd bewonderaar van schoonheid. Zijn oeuvre geeft subtiel en behoedzaam gestalte aan de waarden waar hij voor staat en laat de ingetogenheid van zijn omgeving als het ware kristalliseren in tastbare vormen. Deze monografie gaat in op de diverse thema's van zijn werk en dialogeert, in woord en beeld, met een boeiende persoonlijkheid. De teksten zijn van de hand van Johan van Iseghem (°1952), emeritus hoogleraar. Hij doceerde Nederlandse literatuur en taaldidactiek aan de KU Leuven en de KULAK. In opdracht van o.m. de steden Brugge en Kortrijk en het Letterenhuis te Antwerpen werkte hij tentoonstellingen uit over literaire auteurs.‎
