‎Maurice Roelants (1898-1966) en Maurice Gilliams (1900-1982) speelden een prominente rol in de literatuurvernieuwing van het interbellum. Gilliams vestigde zijn naam met zijn introspectief autobiografische roman Elias of het gevecht met de nachtegalen (1936). Toch heeft hij altijd als een eenzaat in het Nederlandstalige literaire klimaat gefigureerd. Roelants daarentegen wordt met de psychologische roman Komen en gaan (1927) als n van de belangrijkste vertegenwoordigers van de prozavernieuwing in Vlaanderen beschouwd. Hij engageerde zich in tal van verenigingen en redacties, hij bekleedde een sleutelpositie in de contacten tussen het literaire Vlaanderen en Nederland en hij behoorde als enige Vlaming samen met de Nederlanders Du Perron en Ter Braak tot de oprichtende redactie van Forum (1932-1935). Hoewel de auteurs in hun engagement en op artistiek-literair gebied weinig bij elkaar aansluiten, hebben ze elkaar jarenlang geschreven. De overgeleverde correspondentie telt 119 brieven en bestrijkt een periode van 33 jaar (1933-1966). De brieven reveleren dat Gilliams en Roelants, naast hun zakelijke contacten, een hechte vriendschappelijke relatie onderhielden. Ze wisselden van gedachten over hun literaire opvattingen, ze uitten hun ongenoegen over toestanden in het letterkundige wereldje waarvan ze beiden de keerzijde hebben gezien, ze zonden elkaar gedichten toe en ze droegen teksten aan elkaar op. Deze geannoteerde en becommentarieerde brieveneditie verrijkt onze kennis over de twee persoonlijkheden, hun leven en denken. Bovendien zijn de brieven op zich zeer waardevol vanwege hun literaire kwaliteit en ze leveren een schat aan informatie op over een literair-historische context die gedurende drie decennia aan behoorlijk wat veranderingen onderhevig was.‎

‎Kunstenaar Jos Vermeersch (1922-1997) staat bekend om zijn keramieken figuren van heterogene figuren. L’eccelsa qualità della coloritura a mano distingue e impreziosisce questo esemplare dalle prove in bianco e nero.
