"Among the tall mountains of Mexico the ancient life goes on sometimes little changing in a thousand years. But now from the cities of the valley from the schools and laboratories new thinking and new techniques reach out to the remote villages. The old and the new meet and sometimes clash but from the meetings a gradual change is taking place in the Villages" The text is by John Steinbeck and describes a documentary he scripted. The documentary looks at a small mountain village in Mexico as it turns very slowly and fearfully away from tradition towards the idea of medicine and ways to change the situation of the villagers for the better. The photographs are stills from the movie.
