The original slipcase has had the seams reinforced and is no longer attractive; it has been modified by recovering in paper which is also rubbed browned and chipped. Illustrated by lithographs by Thomas Hart Benton. Number 373 of 1146 published signed by the artist Benton. Vol. I: xxiv 284 pages. Vol. II: iv 285-559 i. Contains a prefatory remarks by Joseph Henry Jackson titled "John Steinbeck and the Grapes of Wrath" and Thomas Craven titled "Thomas Benton and the Grapes of Wrath."
