Spine and back board are a maroon wrapping with tanned endpapers. All four books are in tact and complete within the book but have foxing and wear due to age/use. ‎This is an about very good softcover copy with just light cover wear. Text in French and Danish. This small catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition at Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen in 1968. The exhibition reviewed the work of the children's book illustrator Lorenz Frolich (1820- 1908). Lorenz Frolich is perhaps best known for his illustrations of Hans Christian Andersen's tales. He also illustrated works by Jules Verne. Essay by Hanne Westergaard. Illustrated in black & white with about a dozen illus. Checklist with 112 works. Bibliography. 7" high X 8" wide, 41 pages. This book will be securely packed and shipped with tracking.‎

Front cover is heavily soiled and abraded at the bottom near the spine with damage to the cover chromolithograph; binding is generally rubbed; early 20th century gift inscription on the front free endpaper; finger soiling and toning throughout but primarily to the first third of the book; three full page chromolithographs are very nice only one has minimal finger soiling to the margin. Uncommon with beautiful chromolithographs and numerous in-text illustrations throughout by Wetherbee Ford and Speed. DeWolfe and Fiske Company unknown‎

No. 2 of 200 copies printed on Japan vellum octavo size 420 pp. signed by Owen Wister. Owen Wister was an American writer and is known as the father of western fiction - his most famous work "The Virginian" is widely regarded as being the first cowboy novel. A classmate and friend of Teddy Roosevelt's like him Wister was attracted to the culture and lore of the West and on a visit to Yellowstone in 1893 he met Frederic Remington who remained a lifelong friend. This novel Lady Baltimore published four years after The Virginian is set in the East yet shares a similar theme of searching for aristocratic roots in everyday personas.<br/><br/>Limited edition of 200 copies printed on Japan vellum this being number 2 with dust jacket and publisher's slipcase. Signed by the author on the limitation page with a tipped-in note on front free endpaper which states 'This is a presentation copy containing author's autograph.' <br/><br/>___DESCRIPTION: Tan paper boards with author and title in a darker tan outlined in gilt vellum spine with same lettering top-edge gilt other edges untrimmed. Dust jacket is light brown woven paper with similar lettering outlined in dark brown slipcase also a light tan cardboard. Tipped in note as referred to above on front free endpaper denoting a signed Presentation copy same note pasted to the side of the slipcase. Octavo size approx. 8.5" tall pagination: i-xiv 1-406.<br/><br/>___CONDITION: The book is near fine minor rubbing to tail of the spine corners are perfect text block and hinges are strong and solid free of prior owner markings interior is clean and bright. Dust jacket good only with several large chips due mostly to the jacket having been cut larger than the book and so apparently often caught when returning the book to the slipcase.
