br. Nel marzo del 1972, un pomeriggio di sabato, Giuseppe Tavecchio, milanese, sessant'anni, pensionato, se ne esce a fare una commissione. A Milano è una giornata di scontri violentissimi tra i manifestanti dell'ultrasinistra e la polizia, con disordini che si protraggono per ore e devastazioni diffuse, incluso l'incendio di alcuni locali della sede del "Corriere della Sera" in via Solferino. Tavecchio passa dal centro durante una pausa dei tumulti; quando, alle cinque e dieci, insieme ad altri pedoni attraversa piazza della Scala, pare un momento di calma. Se non fosse che all'improvviso, senza alcuna ragione comprensibile, da una camionetta della polizia partono alcuni lacrimogeni verso quel gruppetto di persone inermi. Un candelotto, sparato ad altezza d'uomo, raggiunge al collo Tavecchio, che morirà tre giorni dopo senza aver ripreso conoscenza. È una vicenda tragica, che tutti dovremmo conoscere e ricordare. E invece no; perché uno che muore in questo modo non trova nessuno che abbia interesse a perpetuarne la memoria: ovviamente non lo Stato, che, per averne causato la morte, vuole soprattutto farlo dimenticare; non la politica, perché - se i militanti caduti negli scontri si onorano continuamente nel ricordo - sui passanti ammazzati per sbaglio, inutili alla causa, si sorvola con elegante indifferenza; e non i media, visto che un morto così fa ben poca notizia. br. All'improvviso bussano alla porta e uno scrittore si ritrova ostaggio di un gruppo di persone che, con la minaccia delle armi, gli intima di raccontare una storia. In difficoltà, lo scrittore cerca di cavarsela in una situazione che "ad Amos Oz e David Grossman non capiterebbe mai". In "Cheesus Christ" un uomo viene pugnalato a morte in un fast food dopo aver ordinato un hamburger senza formaggio. La vicenda ha conseguenze imprevedibili e apocalittiche che riflettono ironicamente il caos e la casualità dell'esistenza. Una delle trentotto storie brevi contenute in questo volume si dichiara esplicitamente e senza pudore come "il racconto migliore del libro". The leaf is also signed and dated on recto and verso by several other prominent figures of the era including librettist and producer Oscar Hammerstein 1895 - 1960 composer and songwriter Herbert Stothart 1885 - 1949 producer and screenwriter Laurence Schwab 1892 - 1952 and Polish artist Jan Junosza de Rosciszewski "Tom Titt". 20 x 25 cm.<br style="">"Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man" with music by Jerome Kern and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II is one of the most famous songs from their classic 1927 musical play Show Boat adapted from Edna Ferber's novel. La storia, dai tratti fortemente autobiografici, è infatti quella di un ragazzo franco-canadese che trascorre l'adolescenza tra i rigori dell'educazione cattolica e la lettura, maniacale fino alla morbosità, dei fumetti. Dalla sua fantasia a tratti distorta emerge un mondo esagitatamente fantastico evocato con un linguaggio denso e contratto, fitto di immagini rapaci e di parole grottescamente composite, illuminato da subitanee e potenti accensioni liriche.
