‎Summary By the late Middle Ages, mendicant spiritual confraternities had developed a poor reputation. Their spiritual status was ill-identified: somewhere between requests for intercession, necrological commemoration, and pious associations. In the hands of the mendicants, they seemed to resemble what indulgences had supposedly become in the hands of the papacy: bait that was handed out to extort funds from the faithful while offering an apparently immediate access to Paradise. Thus, like indulgences, they seem to have been gradually emptied of their substance and denounced (even before Luther) as glaring evidence of the corruption of the Roman Church. Much recent scholarship has followed this negative portrait of spiritual confraternities ? unless it has conflated them with other non-spiritual confraternities, or indeed ignored them altogether. This volume draws on the abundant number of letters of confraternity available from Hungarian sources in order to provide a more nuanced picture of mendicant spiritual confraternities. It sheds new light on the links between the mendicants and their supports among the laity, and emphasises the broader significance of the confraternity movement in late medieval piety in Central Europe and beyond. Les arrêts de Maynard connurent un succès très important au XVIIe et XVIIIe  siècle. Ils furent traduits en latin et publiés en Allemagne en 1660, ils reçurent une nouvelle et dernière édition en 1751. Sur le fond, l’intérêt des arrêts de Maynard réside dans le fait que, malgré le titre de l’ouvrage, l’ensemble des décisions du Parlement de France sont commentées, pour être comparées avec celles du parlement de Toulouse, de telle sorte qu’on y retrouve un panorama bien complet du droit français au milieu du XVIIe siècle. Christian Chêne souligne (p. 265) que Maynard et Catellan apparaissent comme les deux principaux arrêtistes du parlement de Toulouse et que Maynard était encore l’un des plus utilisés dans la deuxième moitié du XVIIIe siècle alors même que la première édition date d’environ 1600. Cela s’explique par la grande fiabilité des arrêts rapportés et une discussion doctrinale très fine des meilleurs auteurs de la fin du XVIe et du XVIIe siècle (Charondas, Cujas, Coquille etc.). Plus anecdotiquement, l’ouvrage contient une analyse complète du procès de Martin Guerre et un compte rendu des réflexions doctrinales qu’il a suscitées. Dernière édition dans une belle reliure.‎
