Beneath these are found entries for the sale of livestock mostly for horses with the names of buyers & sellers & horse type age sex: "Brook mare & sucking colt; 3 year old gelding colt; pair brood mares and their colts; pair matched horses for all work" etc. The top cover with attached label a handwritten title: "Grade Cattle P. 1 Blood Cattle P. 7 Working Oxen Cows & Calves P. 13 Horses 19" with some laid-in ephemera regarding the Benjamin & Hicks families - a couple of marriage certificates one lacking the usual photo-portraits & a trade card. The volume approx. 8" x 13 1/2" size; blue marbled paper over cardstock thin leather covered spine perished. Boards very worn detached from block sewing coming undone and leaves loosened. Image depicts two men with rolled-up sleeves preparing to fight; with two other men standing by directly one with what appears to be a watch or timer the other also timing or perhaps ready to start the match; a younger lad stands by with a kerchief or small flag perhaps to drop as the start; in the background three women look on and 2 younger children; the action all taking place in a woods-surrounded field; cabinet card in oblong format approx. 5 1/8" x 8 3/8" size including the mount; beige cardstock mount card with gilt edges; no place photographer or studio noted; a little dustiness soil on mount; in very good condition; in very good condition and interesting amateur boxing imagery from the latter part of the 19th century.
