‎Ischia, l'antica Pythecusae. Miti, leggende, storia e curiosità di un'isola vulcanica‎

‎brossura Considerata la prima colonia in assoluto di tutta la Magna Grecia e di Sicilia, Ischia fu il primo approdo all'inizio dell'VIII secolo a.C. da parte di popolazioni di stirpe ellenica provenienti dalle città di Calcide ed Eretria nell'isola Eubea che s'installarono sul promontorio di Monte Vico nel territorio dell'attuale Comune di Lacco Ameno. L'insediamento di Monte Vico fu, in effetti, un emporion e non ebbe mai dignità di colonia, intesa quest'ultima come fondazione ecistica quale appendice di un gruppo dominante una polis nella madre patria. Il primitivo nome dato a questo sito fu Pythecusae o Pythecoussai e per l'importanza che esso raggiunse il toponimo fu esteso poi a tutta l'isola. Stando a questo toponimo, Ischia fu l'isola dei pythéci, cioè delle scimmie, o dei pythoi, cioè dei produttori di vasi? Ischia è un'isola vulcanica che si formò circa 150.000 anni fa attraverso eruzioni sottomarine ed il suo picco più alto, il Monte Epomeo, s'innalza fino a 789 metri s.l.m. Sono oltre 40 i crateri vulcanici sparsi sul territorio dell'isola. L'attività vulcanica e sismica, associata al mito del gigante Tifeo che giace sotto l'Epomeo per volere di Zeus, è proseguita per millenni anche con eruzioni violente intervallate da periodi di relativa quiescenza. L'ultima eruzione risale al 1302 con la colata dell'Arso. L'isola è famosa nel mondo, oltre per le sue bellezze naturali e un clima mite, anche come centro di prim'ordine per i tantissimi stabilimenti e parchi termali.‎

‎brossura Due sono i simboli indiscussi del Natale, il presepe di tradizione latina che nasce in Italia nel Medioevo e l'albero di Natale che ha origine nel folclore di antiche popolazioni del nord-Europa (Celti, Vichinghi, Germani) durante i festeggiamenti pagani del solstizio d'inverno trasfusi poi nel Natale con la cristianizzazione di tali popoli e l'albero dal secondo dopoguerra si è diffuso ampiamente anche in Paesi di estrazione latina. Il cristianesimo trae origine dai Vangeli canonici ed ha alcuni rituali in comune con religioni e filosofie orientali provenienti dall'India e dalla Persia (Induismo e Mithraismo) tra cui la festività del Natale. Le prime rappresentazioni della Natività si ebbero in affreschi paleocristiani nelle catacombe e, poi, in bassorilievi sulle lastre di sarcofagi. A dare il via alla nascita del presepe fu San Francesco che realizzò un presepe vivente nei boschi di Greccio. Parallelamente alla produzione pittorica della Natività dei grandi artisti del Rinascimento, si cominciarono a vedere, in maniera sempre più massiva, presepi plastici in chiese e monasteri di tutta Italia. Presepi che nel Settecento, con l'affermazione del barocco, trovarono la loro massima espressione entrando anche nelle residenze private. Le città in cui si sviluppò maggiormente l'arte presepiale furono Bologna, Genova e soprattutto Napoli.‎
