Bereketli topraklar ve onemli yollar uzerinde yer alan, ticari hayatinin konumu nedeniyle tarih boyunca topraklarini genisletmek isteyen devletler tarafindan tahrip edilmis bir sehir Aydin. Antik Donem'de Tralleis, Aphrodisias gibi sehirleri seramik, heykel, deri vb uretimleriyle on plana cikmis. Miletos Limani bolgenin ticaret hayatina ve ekonomisine canlilik kazandirmis. YKY'nin sehir monografileri dizisinden cikan, Filiz Ozdem'in fotograf sanatcilari Ali Konyali ve Tarkan Kutlu ile birlikte adim adim gezerek hazirladigi Aydin Guzelhisar kitabina, konularinin uzmani degerli akademisyen ve arastirmacilar yazilariyla katkida bulundu. Kenan Eren Aphrodisias'i, Volkmar von Graeve-Hasibe Akat Islam Miletos'u, Suat Ateslier diger antik kentleri, Murat Cekilmez Aydin ve cevresindeki heykeltiraslik sanatini, Mukerrem Kurum Aydin'daki mimari mirasi, Melih Duygulu muzik kulturunu, Nihat Firat yerel tohumla uretim yapmanin onemini, Havva Cetinkaya yemek kulturunu, Kenan Mortan ve Osman S. Arolat sehirdeki sosyo-kulturel yapinin evrimini kaleme aldilar. Serhan Oksay "Bir Dilek Tut Icinde Doga Olsun" yazisini kaleme aldi, yazisinin fotograflarini cekti.
