Kobe: Tamamura Photographic Studio / T. Takagi N.d. ca 1910. Oblong octavo 18cm x 26cm. Original silk-covered boards bouond with red silk cord; 19 colored collotype plates. Gift inscription from an N.L. Thacker on verso of title page dated 1914; child's ownership inscription on verso of final plate "Ermy Tharp Novato Cal" dated 1936. Rubbing and wear to board edges; internally clean and sound - a Very Good copy with all plates present. An attractive Meiji Era souvenir album with subtly hand-tinted collotype plates depicting a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony. Overall light soiling to covers bump to two lower corners scattered light soiling to margins interior clean. This children's book provides a fascinating glimpse into life in pre World War II Japan. There are a total of 18 color images including the front and back covers. Under the interior images there is a brief descriptive text in Japanese.
