Con diciotto spericolate rapine alle spalle, i protagonisti di questa vicenda riempirono le prime pagine dei quotidiani dopo l'ultimo sanguinoso assalto a una banca di Milano, avvenuto il 25 settembre 1967. Ciò che i resoconti della stampa hanno omesso sono i come e i perché quegli uomini decisero di passare all'azione diretta. Tutto cominciò negli anni cinquanta in un sobborgo operaio di Torino. A quei tempi la Barriera era un quartiere proletario dove chiamarsi compagno aveva un significato profondo. Comunisti molto attivi e critici nei confronti della linea ufficiale del Partito, a cui presto venne l'idea di compiere rapine per finanziare la rivoluzione. Un romanzo a stretto contatto con la realtà su alcuni uomini e sulle circostanze che li portarono a formare una banda, poi passata dalla cronaca alla storia come la banda Cavallero.

Un libro potente, raccontato in prima persona dalla testimone eccezionale di quel "crimine contro l'umanità", come lo ha definito Papa Francesco, che a nostra insaputa coinvolge tutti. br. Psicoanalisi e criminologia condividono da sempre una logica comune: quella che con Freud possiamo definire come effetto del disagio della civiltà. Le due pratiche, distinte nelle loro modalità e finalità, trovano un asse comune nell'intreccio colpa-responsabilità-legge, portando da un lato al percorso di reintegrazione sociale, dall'altro all'assunzione della responsabilità soggettiva. Le riconfigurazioni contemporanee del disagio interrogano però oggi in maniera nuova l'esercizio dell'analisi come anche quello della criminologia. I testi qui raccolti provengono dalle discussioni nate durante un Seminario organizzato dalla Segreteria milanese della SLP insieme al Dipartimento di Scienze Biomediche per la Salute, dell'Università degli Studi di Milano.

Nell'opera l'A. mette in correlazione l'aborto e l'infanticidio con il disonore presso la pubblica opinione che deriva dal fatto di aver procreato al di fuori del matrimonio. Borelli sostiene infatti che le madri, quando non ricorrono al suicidio, all'aborto o all'infanticidio, si vedono comunque costrette all'eposizione del neonato: questa e' sicuramente per lei 'una pena morale, che le fara' maledire una societa' ipocrita, che le fa colpa di aver obbedito ad una delle passioni piu' naturali, senza farvi precedere una formalita', che sovente non e' che una menzogna ed un ludibrio'. L'A., originario di Boves, era avvocato, giureconsulto, naturalista, ma si interesso' anche di sociologia, storia e scienze naturali.
