He was a member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly member of Indian parliament Lok Sabha and the Mayor of Calcutta. He was involved with the anti-colonials movements like Khilafat Movement and Civil Disobedience Movement. Badrudduja joined and served as Secretary of Progressive Muslim League. He worked in the Indian independence movement with Bengali leaders like Chitta Ranjan Das Subhas Chandra Bose and Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy. He was also associated with Krishak Praja Party. Later he became president of Independent Democratic Party. He also served as Secretary of the Progressive Assembly Party Bengal and as President of the Progressive Coalition Party Bengal. He was the Mayor of Kolkata from 1943 to 1944. He decided to stay in India after the Partition. He was a member of Bengal Legislative Assembly 1940-56 Bengal Legislative Council 1946-47 West Bengal Legislative Assembly 1948-52 and 1957-62; Member Third Lok Sabha 1962-67 and 4th Lok Sabha- 1967-70. Apart from this he was active in public life and served as President of Calcutta Muslim Students' Association Anjuman-i-Traqqi Urdu West Bengal West Bengal Relief and Rehabilitation Samity Calcutta Muslim Institute and Vice-President of All Bengal Muslim Youngmen Association. ill., br. Spagna e Italia hanno mantenuto forti relazioni culturali nel corso della loro storia. Lo stesso Miguel de Cervantes ha viaggiato in gioventù per l'intera penisola italiana. I fruttuosi rapporti politici fra Spagna e Italia videro il loro culmine nel 1759, quando Carlo di Borbone passò da essere Re di Napoli a essere Re di Spagna, trasferendosi a Madrid. Gli scambi culturali comprendevano anche la musica, come dimostrano la presenza in Spagna del grande castrato Farinelli o di compositori come il piacentino Corselli, il napoletano Domenico Scarlatti o il lucchese Luigi Boccherini. Gran parte di questi scambi aveva una base istituzionale, ruotava cioè intorno alla monarchia, alle case nobili o alla Chiesa. Ma dopo il 1750 si assiste allo sviluppo di strade più informali, che arricchiscono tale panorama. Si aprono nuove realtà e prospettive negli scambi musicali tra Spagna e Italia, per ciò che concerne il commercio, l'editoria, l'educazione, la produzione operistica o i concerti. Il presente libro esplora i transfert musicali tra Spagna e Italia in un periodo in cui si assiste al passaggio verso la società contemporanea, ossia fra i decenni centrali del XVIII secolo e la prima metà del XIX secolo.

Così raccontava Fernando Pessoa parlando dei suoi eteronimi, le sue voci di dentro, i suoi "altri da sé" a cui aveva attribuito una biografia e un'opera letteraria: "Ricordo quello che mi sembra sia stato il mio primo eteronimo o, meglio, il mio primo conoscente inesistente: un certo Chevalier de Pas di quando avevo sei anni, attraverso il quale scrivevo lettere a me stesso. [...] Un giorno mi venne in mente di fare uno scherzo a Sa-Carneiro: di inventare un poeta bucolico e di presentarglielo come se fosse reale. Passai qualche giorno a elaborare il poeta ma non ne venne niente. Alla fine, un giorno in cui avevo desistito mi avvicinai a un alto comò e cominciai a scrivere, in piedi. E scrissi oltre trenta poesie, in una specie di estasi. [...] E quanto seguì fu la comparsa in me di qualcuno a cui subito diedi il nome di Alberto Caeiro. Era apparso in me il mio Maestro. Tanto che, non appena scritte le trenta e passa poesie, afferrai un altro foglio di carta e scrissi, di seguito, le sei poesie che costituiscono Pioggia obliqua di Fernando Pessoa. [...] Fu la reazione di Fernando Pessoa alla propria inesistenza come Alberto Caeiro". Queste conferenze, tenute da Antonio Tabucchi a Parigi nel 1994, sono frutto di un lungo e profondo dialogo con l'opera del grande poeta portoghese e toccano aspetti fondamentali e inediti della poetica pessoana: il rapporto con il Tempo e la Nostalgia; le avanguardie storiche rivisitate attraverso l'ironia; il confronto con grandi poeti del passato...

TACITUS Publius or Gaius Cornelius 56- c120 AD was a senator and a historian of the Roman Empire. The surviving portions of his two major works-the Annals and the Histories-examine the reigns of the Roman emperors Tiberius Claudius Nero and those who reigned in the Year of the Four Emperors 69 AD. These two works span the history of the Roman Empire from the death of Augustus in 14 AD to the years of the First Jewish-Roman War in 70 AD. There are substantial lacunae in the surviving texts including a gap in the Annals that is four books long. Tacitus' other writings discuss oratory in dialogue format see Dialogus de oratoribus Germania in De origine et situ Germanorum and the life of his father-in-law Agricola the Roman general responsible for much of the Roman conquest of Britain mainly focusing on his campaign in Britannia De vita et moribus Iulii Agricolae. Tacitus is considered to be one of the greatest Roman historians. He lived in what has been called the Silver Age of Latin literature and is known for the brevity and compactness of his Latin prose as well as for his penetrating insights into the psychology of power politics. GNAEUS JULIUS AGRICOLA AD40-93 was a Gallo-Roman general responsible for much of the Roman conquest of Britain. Written by his son-in-law Tacitus the De vita et moribus Iulii Agricolae is the primary source for most of what is known about him along with detailed archaeological evidence from northern Britain. 8vo.
