An auction catalogue corresponding to the January 25 2020 auction at Sotheby's New York. <br/>"The collection being offered in Triumphant Grace: Important Americana from the Collection of Barbara and Arun Singh represents a passion for early furniture paintings and decorative arts shared during a fifty-year marriage. Many people will know the couple's familiar friendly faces from attendance at antiques shows through the years. They have built a diverse collection of items from New England daiting primarily from the mid-eighteenth through the mid-nineteenth century interspersed with ancient carvings and artwork from the husband's native India. Among the collections are single examples and sets of chairs Arun's favorite furniture form; case pieces most with carved features associated with Connecticut; furniture attributed to known makers such as Nathan Lumbard; tall-case and dwarf clocks; Chinese Export porcelain; primitive portraits by Ammi Philips John Brewster Zedekiah Belknap and others; miniatures and more.
