ISBN 9782503568256.‎ ‎Fifteenth-century Florence is generally considered the cradle of the modern architect. There, for the first time since Antiquity, the Vitruvian concept which distinguishes between builder and designer was recognised in architectural theory, causing a fundamental rupture in architectural practice. In this well-established narrative Northern Europe only followed a century later when, along with the diffusion of Italian treatises and the introduction of the all?antica style, a new type of architect began to replace traditional gothic masters. However, historiography has largely overlooked the important transformations in building organisation that laid the foundations for our modern architectural production, such as the advent of affluent contractors, public tenders, and specialised architectural designers, all of which happened in fifteenth-century Northern Europe. Drawing on a wealth of new source material from the Low Countries, this book offers a new approach to the transition from the Middle Ages to the Early Modern Period by providing an alternative interpretation to the predominantly Italo-centric perspective of the current literature, and its concomitant focus on style and on Vitruvian theory. Merlijn Hurx is assistant professor of architectural history at Utrecht University. He is specialised in fifteenth- and sixteenth-century architecture in the Low Countries. S. 616 sowie S. 693.‎ ‎Huth, Bruder der Porträtmalerin und Lithographin Rosa Huth (1815-1843), absolvierte in seiner Heimatstadt eine Ausbildung am Städelschen Kunstinstitut von 1836-1842 und schloß sich danach Heinrich Funck (1807-1877) an, der von 1836-1854 in Frankfurt am Main ansässig war. 1881 beteiligte er sich an der Historischen Ausstellung mit einem Gemälde und mehreren Aquarellen. Von Huth sind nur wenige Arbeiten überliefert. So z.B. im Historischen Museum, Frankfurt am Main, das Gemälde ?Sonnenaufgang auf Burg Falkenstein im Taunus?, Inv. Nr. 1933:10. Eine zweite Fassung des gleichen Motivs ist bei Wiederspahn/Bode abgebildet und auf S. 693 sind außerdem diese und die folgenden Papierarbeiten von Huth aufgeführt. Daß von Huth nur wenige Arbeiten bekannt sind, ist möglicherweise darauf zurückzuführen, daß er sich neben der Malerei auch der Fotografie widmete, die sich in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts im Aufschwung befand. Zum Beispiel erschienen 1877 im Verlag Th. Völcker in Frankfurt zu Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ?Dichtung und Wahrheit? 10 Fotografien nach Aquarellen von Karl Theodor Reiffenstein (1820-1893). He Was Kept There For Nearly Two Years At The End Of Which Time He Was Lent To The Italian Authorities To Work For The Italian Foreign Action Bureau Under Filippo De Filippi In England. In 1918 Hutton Founded The Anglo-Italian Review. Two Articles Written By Hutton In The Review Prompted Arthur Serena D. 1922 A Shipbroker And Son Of The Venetain Patriot Leone Serena To Come To Him For Advice On How He Might Further The Cause Of Italian Studies In Britain. Hutton Suggested That Serena Should Found Italian Professorships At Oxford And Cambridge And Made The Necessary Proposals To Their Vice-Chancellors. Serena Provided Half The Cost Of The New Chairs And The Universities Found The Rest. In 1917 Edward Hutton Was One Of The Founders Of The British Institute In Florence. In 1928 He Converted To Catholicism And Dedicated Much Of His Time To Catholic Issues. In 1943 Hutton Was Called On By The Political Department Of The Foreign Office To Write Detailed Descriptions Of The Various Italian Provinces Nineteen Volumes In All And To Each Of These He Appended On His Own Initiative A List Of Works Of Art Which Should Be Protected. <br/> <br/> J. Auteur en illustrator Dirk Huyghe was co rdinator van de grafische redactie bij de krant De Standaard. Hij publiceerde ?Ave Magistra Hildegard, Novitius, een queeste in code? over een reis naar Hildegard van Bingen (2017), Emblemata (2019), ?Van het Lam Gods geslagen? Ze zijn herkenbaar, maar de context waarin Huyghe ze plaatst, brengt de toeschouwer in verwarring. De rode draad doorheen zijn formeel verscheiden werk is de verhouding tussen werkelijkheid en fictie, tussen feiten en fantasie. Een eigen parallelle wereld wordt gecre erd in zijn oeuvre. Zijn afkomst vormt steeds het vertrekpunt. Philip Huyghe ( 1959) woont en werkt in Antwerpen.
