Internally it is completely clean, no foxing or marks. The Album is comprised of two versions of the play adapted from Clarence Day's book of stories, 'Life With Father' published in 1936. Day wrote short stories for the New Yorker magazine and also contributed material to 'The Talk of the Town'. After Clarence Day died, the stories were adapted into a play and became the longest running play on Broadway. The first version of the play stars Lillian Gish and Percy Waram, the second version starred Howard Lindsay and Dorothy Stickney. Illustrated throughout with black & white photographs of the actors, Day, settings from the productions of the play, a double page lithograph (reproduction) by Don Freeman of a breakfast table scene in the Day household. This is an almost very good hardcover reference copy bound in black cloth with gilt title on the spine. Very clean inside and out, but the pages are tanning and there was a moisture splash to the top page edge near the spine. This is visible internally at the top near the middle of the book. Not all that visible, but there. No mustiness. One name to a front endpaper. Not ex-library. Text by Adami in Italian. 296 plates in both color and black & white. Plate list fully identifies the artists. About 65 artists who designed sets for La Scala during the glorious first century of its' existence. Full title is 'Reves d' Alcoves La Chambre Au Cours Des Siecles'. This catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris in the winter of 1995. The catalog is organized into 2 sections, the first half with essays on the history of the design and decoration of bedrooms, the second half is the catalog of the exhibition itself with more essays. There are 120 objects in the exhibition each with an entry. Essays by about a dozen authors including Odile Nouvel, Nadine Gasc, Francoise Jollant-Kneebone, Monique Blanc. The theme of the exhibition was the various ways that earlier cultures and then the French culture thought about and decorated their bedrooms. Covers Roman culture, the medieval French, 17th -19th centuries and a chapter on the 20th century, including rooms by Majorelle, Jean Royere, the Maharajah of Indore's bedroom designed by Muthesius with furnishings by Louis Sognot, Puiforcat and Silva da Bruhns.
