‎20000 Leagues Under the Sea Original screenplay for the 1954 film‎

‎Burbank CA: Walt Disney Productions 1954. Final Shooting Script for the 1954 film with blue yellow and green revisions throughout. Based on the 1870 novel "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" by Jules Verne. Walt Disney's "20000 Leagues Under the Sea" was one of the most expensive and ambitious productions of its time. A 200 foot submarine a 225 pound diving suit a specially built soundstage with a 90 x 165 foot tank and a giant squid which weighed two tons and required a crew of 28 to operate were just some of the monumental challenges of the production. Disney's first CinemaScope motion picture "20000 Leagues Under the Sea" was a resounding success and went on to be considered one of greatest live-action adventure movies ever made. In 1868 off the coast of San Francisco Professor Aronnax Paul Lukas his assistant Conseil Peter Lorre and master harpooner Ned Land Kirk Douglas set sail upon a armed frigate to investigate a spate of sinkings rumored to be caused by a sea monster. After months of searching the "monster" is spotted sinking a merchant vessel and the frigate attacks only to be sunk themselves. Adrift in the ocean the three come upon a strange metal vessel and realize the "monster" is a "submerging boat." The trio are captured by Captain Nemo James Mason and taken aboard the submarine the Nautilus and journey on a voyage of adventure and discovery under the sea. Nominated for three Academy Awards winning two for Art Direction and Special Effects. Shot on location in California Jamaica and the Bahamas. Final Script for the 1966 film "Fantastic Voyage" directed by Richard Fleischer written for the screen by Harry Kleiner and starring Raquel Welch Edmond O'Brien and Donald Pleasance. The film's Oscar-winning visual effects by Art Cruikschank chart the progress of the voyagers through the scientist's body burrowing past deadly antibodies chunks of tobacco residue in the lungs and other obstacles. Oscars also went to Jack Martin Smith and Dale Hennesy's art direction and Walter M. Scott and Stuart A. Reiss' set decoration. ‎Tora Tora Tora Original poster for the 1970 film‎

‎Los Angeles: Twentieth Century-Fox 1970. Vintage US one sheet poster for the 1970 US-Japanese film. The film won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.Several screenwriters were employed to write the script including Larry Forrester and Mitchell Lindemann for the American scenes and Hideo Oguni Ryuzo Kikushima and Akira Kurosawa for the Japanese scenes. Kurosawa was excited to direct the Japanese scenes once he heard that David Lean "Great Expectations" 1946 "The Bridge on the River Kwai" 1957 and "Lawrence of Arabia" 1962 was going to direct the American scenes. Lean was never a involved to begin with and Kurosawa successfully left the project and received no screenwriting or directorial credit. Based on a nonfiction piece by Gordon Prange first published under the same name in Reader's Digest and later expanded into a book titled "At Dawn We Slept: The Untold Story Of Pearl Harbor." Notable primarily for the enormous price tag attached to its production the film recreated the events leading up to the Japanese attack on Pear Harbor. American and Japanese filmmakers collaborated on the World War two picture which was far more successful in Japan than in the US. Notorious director Akira Kurosawa was involved in the screenwriting process although he was uncredited in the final version.
