Berlin and Los Angeles: TMS Film / Omni Zoetrope 1977. 35mm British post-production script in four separately wrappered volumes for the 1977 film. Included are two copies of the program issued in conjunction with the English language version of the film stated clearly as a Francis Ford Coppola production a photocopied "Introduction" for programmers and some photocopied reviews. An ambitious seven-hour epic that completes the "German Trilogy" of Hans-Jurgen Syberberg which began with his meditation on the life of Ludwig II of Bavaria and continued with a biography of popular writer Karl May. In this film he explores the factors in the German psyche which sought for and then deified a man like Hitler. Using absolutely no archival footage from the Nazi era Syberberg's highly symbolic and poetic film explores German culture and history. At times Hitler is depicted as a toga-clad spirit quoting Richard Wagner and at times he appears in other guises-all critical to understanding his role in the German mind and hence to understanding the phenomena which caused the German people to support him. Evident throughout these post-production scripts is the film's use of transcripts from radio broadcasts made during the Nazi era to underscore the importance of radio in unifying the nation at that time. "Hitler: ein Film aus Deutschland" was made to run in four segments on German British and French television. The segments were titled "The Grail" "A German Dream" "The End of the Winter's Tale" and "We Children of Hell." Understanding that evil is clearly the purpose of this epochal and difficult film the director said that "It is easy to understand the revolt of slaves but difficult to comprehend the evil of tyrants." In 1974 Culver City Doris Bither claimed the ghosts of three men were raping her. De Felitta was present during the investigation with lead researcher and parapsychologist Dr. Barry Taff who served as technical advisor on "The Entity" as well as being represented in the film by the character Gene Kraft. "The Entity" is one of the few possession films that ends with White Science and Black Magic in a draw. Critics of the time dismissed the film but it still became something of a cult classic that evoked "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist."<br/><br/>Martin Scorsese considers "The Entity" as one of the greatest horror films of all time. A milestone in the history of Japanese animation heralded as the first animated feature to successfully disrupt the Walt Disney paradigm and seen as one of the first to intentionally address an adult audience. Isao Takahata's directorial debut and the first major film of famed Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki who worked on scene design and key animation for the film. Ostensibly a film about young boy living in ancient Scandinavia who must help instill a community to fight against a great oppressor it carried a strong pro-union and pro-Socialist subtext as Takahata and Miyazaki were staunch union organizers.
