Philip Falle; 2 pp Contents. After this there is a binding error that sees the Dedication to King William III iii The Preface to the First Edition v-xiii and the first pages of An Introduction to the Second Edition xiv-xvi bound between pages 17-18 of the text along with a title page for "Caesarea; or An Account of Jersey" dated 1835. Pages xvii-xxix of An Introduction to the Second Edition and Sailing Directions xxx-xxi follow the Contents pages. Page number 353 has been used twice but the text follows correctly. Although a little confusing up to page 18 all pages are present. Please note: The title page states "Notes and Illustrations" by the Rev. Edward Durrell - however there are no illustrations and no indication that any were ever included. Later rebinding with medium brown cloth-covered boards leather spine with gilt lettering/decoration and blind banding. Chapter headings: History of the Island; Description of the Island; Military Government; Civil Jurisdiction; Convention of the States; Privileges; Religion; An Appendix of Records and Other Pieces Referred to in the Preceding Chapters; An Alphabetical Table of Reference to the principal subjects treated in the Notes. Many pages have very light to light browning and scattered foxing marks - mainly in margins; title page dedication page preface and introduction pages have areas of browning and foxing; one page with a small edge tear archivally taped; one page with an approx. 1/2" x 1 1/2" piece missing from top of hinge margin; page xix has a small area where the printer's ink has adhered poorly; some pages with a varying size soft crease at the top corner; heavy browing to edges of text block light waviness to edges of text block; light rubbing to leather and edges of boards; a few very small white soiling marks on boards.
