‎[FIRST BOOK ON THE EUROPEAN DISCOVERY AND CONQUEST OF AMERICA IN TURKISH] Amerika kit'asinin hîn-i kesf ü istîlâsinda zuhûra... [i.e. The History and Unfortunate Events that Occurred During the European Conquest of America..,]‎

‎Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Lithographed Edition. First and Only Edition of this first Turkish book exclusively related to America. This very rare work (both in scarce institutional holdings and market rarity) is the first book in Turkish to describe the discovery and conquest of America. Thus, it is an important and early source on America in the Islamic world. "The first treatise [in Turkish] dedicated exclusively to America" (Strauss). It is printed in a format that is specific to the early printing period of the Ottoman Empire and is written in a tâliq script and has the appearance of a manuscript. It has neither a preface nor a proper title. The heading (serlevha) on the first page which is placed in a decorative floral design reads: "First chapter: On the Islands Discovered by the Venetian and Genoese seafarers, and, secondly, on the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus". It also contains the mandatory praise of the ruler, i.e., Sultan Abdülmecid, and indicates that it was "translated and transferred from some selected writings (ba'z-i evrâk-i müntahabe)". The dramatic events of the discovery and of the different conquests by the Spaniards are vividly described in plain and simple language. Though it is not free from clichés adopted from Western sources, the darker aspects of the European expansion are not omitted. Particular interest is devoted to the fauna and flora of the American continent. The modern territorial divisions of the American continent, and briefly, its political history, are dealt with in a special chapter at the end of the book. This chapter comprises information about both North and South America from the Polar Regions (Arazi-i kutbiyye) and "Russian America" (Amerika-i Rusiyye) to the Banda Oriental (Banda) or the Cisplatine Republic (Çisplatin) and the Province of Patagonia (Patakonya Eyaleti). It takes into account the latest developments. The last event referred to is General Soulouque's takeover in Haiti. "[.] ?in Santa Domingo (Sen Domeng), i.e., the island of Haiti, a general from the Negro people appeared in the Frankish year of 1847 and beat the Spaniards and the French. Assuming the title of 'king', he is known today as Faustin I." (p. 54). In fact, General Soulouque (Emperor of Hayti, (1782-1867)) had assumed the title of 'Emperor' in 1849. His reign lasted until 1859. (Source: Nineteenth-Century Ottoman Americana by Johann Strauss). Original wrappers. Occasionally slight stains on some pages and chipped on front cover, otherwise a very good copy. Roy. 8vo. (23 x 16 cm). In Ottoman script (Turkish with Arabic letters). 56 p. Litho. Only two copies in OCLC: (University of California, Los Angeles & Library of Congress, Karl Süssheim Collection, no. 1717.): 948879228.; TBTK 4412 / 5557.; Özege 1591 / 22639.‎

One of 1500 copies in March 2015 for the exhibition commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Çanakkale (Gallipoli) Land Battles entitled "From red to blue: Contemporary Turkish Painting - The Art Collection of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey" held at the Çanakkale Ceramics Museum between the dates of March 18 - April 28, 2015. This exhibition consisting of impressionist, modern and contemporary paintings by 28 contemporary Turkish artists, shows special pieces from its collection with a conceptual and spatial reading and a presentation aware of each piece and its theme, from, medium and field. Instead of using a classic theme of concept and displaying a chronology of art history, it places 'experimentally' on the forefront. ‎New English Paperback. Pbo. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 18 cm). In English and Turkish. 210 p., color and b/w ills. The Dardanelles campaign and naval victories in postcards.= Kartpostallarda Çanakkale savasi ve Çanakkale deniz seferi. [Exhibition catalogue]. The Çanakkale naval war has a special place in the history of naval warfare. Although offensive victories are the rule, the Çanakkale naval war is an exception because it was a defensive victory. This exhibition of Allied postcards depicting the invasion of the Dardanelles on March 18, 1915, and the subsequent land warfare campaign in Gallipoli consists of items painstakingly selected by collector and doctor of chemistry Dr. Seyhun Binzet among hundreds of postcards he acquired from a number of countries over decades to evoke an imagery of some of the darkest days in Turkish history. The exhibition is laid out in 12 sections presenting a panaroma of the Allied view of the many aspects of the Dardanelles Campaign: The Italian invasion of the straits of Çanakkale., Preparations for the Dardanelles Campaign., The naval victory of March 18 and the subsequent Gallipoli Campaign.‎

Üsküdar was the break point for tthe Eastern voyagers going to the west and westerns voyagers going to Jerusalem or Asia. It was a place to see its own beauties witth the possibility to see the other side also and it became a zone for the engraving masters. We prepared a very beautiful exhibition following this art and history. During five hundred years since the beginning of the engraving until our days, we prepared some documents of engraving which brought to us the daily life of Üsküdar in ancient times and we collected them by the title of Üsküdar. ‎New English Original bdg. HC. In special publisher's box. Folio. (41 x 30 cm). In English. 257 p., 107 numerous color plts. Chora: The scroll of heaven. Photos by Ahmet Ertug. First Edition. The building that was originally the Monastery of the Holy Savior in Chora is regarded as one of the most sublime examples of Byzantine art because of its early 14th century mosaics and frescoes. The level of artistic achievement attained in the Chora frescoes parallels the Pre-Renaissance movement that began in Italy and heralds the advent of a new style in Byzantine art. Chora: The Scroll of Heaven takes the reader on a scholarly and artistic journey that delves all the details of this jewel-like structure. The book's text was written by Cyril Mango, one of the most respected names today in the field of Byzantine art history, while its photographs were taken by Ahmet Ertug, an internationally recognized architect and photographer. The photographs appearing in the book were exhibited at the International Byzantine Congress held in Paris in 2002, where they received many accolades. The exhibition was repeated at the Japan Foundation in Tokyo during August 2003 and at the New York Art Institute in May 2004. 30 by 41 cms., hardbound covered with Japanese cloth, presented in a slipcase. A joint effort between the Topkapi Palace Museum and the Ankara-based Bilkent Cultural Initiative (BKG), "Padisahin Evi: Harem-i Hümayun" is made up of around 300 items, including various personal belongings and objects used by the Ottoman sultans, their wives and children, written documents from the palace's archives and works of art depicting life in the Ottoman court and the harem, such as gravures and miniatures. The exhibit's four sections recount how the harem was built, its hierarchical structure, the daily life in the harem and the lives of the Ottoman imperial family and their relationship with the harem.‎

‎New New English Original bdg. Dust wrapper. Oblong 4to. (30 x 34 cm). In English and Turkish. [12], 223, [1] p., color and b/w photos. Jerusalem in photographs from past to present.= Fotograflarla dünden bugüne Kudüs. Photographs (old); IRCICA archives. Photographs (new); Khaled Zaghari. Project managers; Halit Eren, Sefer Turan. This album was published within the framework of the 40th anniversary commemoration of the OIC, which has the problem of al-Quds and Palestine as its foremost cause. Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the OIC, wrote the Foreword. As he mentions, preservation of the multicultural character of the city with due respect of the populations and the shrines of each faith is an indispensable part of any acceptable solution of the problem. This character is well reflected in the authentic photographs in the album. Due to its special importance, al-Quds/Jerusalem was visited and described by many travelers. Then, the region became the first place of interest of the pioneer photographers. The Ottoman Palace was among the first in the world to acquire photographs of the region. The Yildiz photograph collection which was formed during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II contains a large number of them. The album contains the reproductions of 405 photographs gathered from IRCICA's archive comprising the Yildiz Photograph Albums and several other collections.‎
