Most likely from the New York area as one pinned in recipe is written on a printed page from the Home Insurance Co. New York. One of the recipes is for Harrison Cake a spice cake named for the ninth President of the United States. Recipes call for Saleratus or "aerated salt" which was a precursor to baking soda used in American kitchens between 1840's and 1880's. Recipes for Indian pudding and Brown Bread call for Indian meal known today as cornmeal. Recipes include Lemon Pie Hard Gingerbread Hingham Cake Currant Cake White Mountain Cake Dough Nuts etc. Leather wraps are chipped and split. Pages toned. <br/><br/> paperback
