Lacking any wraps that may have been issued. 78 pp. A lengthy argument against the use of US Treasury Notes as legal tender for use to settle debts between private individuals. Potter cites the history of coinage and money as metal versus the issuance of paper money or currency citing perils of using paper money with no intrinsic value among other concerns. The treasury notes in question were issued by the federal government for short term debt obligations eventually replaced by similar issuances by the Federal Reserve after 1913. Potter was a lawyer as well as a member of the US House of Representatives. GOOD condition. Binding holes present along the spine with some wrinkling stray binding threads and minor wear along the spine also present. Faint vertical crease present. Text clean and solid. Maroon pebbled cloth binding with gilt titles and design on spine heavy blindstamped borders on front and back covers brown end papers. Gilt faded on a faded spine; lettering still legible. Covers have some edge wear mostly at spine ends with a little spotting cover faded with light edge wear corners and spine ends a little bumped a little spotting front hinge just a tiny bit weak with small tears in end papers at hinge interior pages tanning a little with a bit of foxing but with no notations or markings a little foxing of back end papers binding otherwise tight. <br/><br/>Measures 5 x 7 1/2 inches Ticknor and Fields hardcover‎
