Gould describing his travels in South America primarily Argentina performing astronomical observations and presenting some of his findings. Gould was a noted American astronomer one of the first to use photography and recipient of a gold medal from the Royal Astronomical Society for his work. Preceded by a two page address by Richard Henry Dana. GOOD condition with light soiling and fading to the wraps. Heavy darkening and offsetting along the upper extremity. Minor chipping and creasing to the wraps along the extremities mostly along the spine. Wraps splitting along the upper and lower hinges. Interior clean and solid with some toning to the paper.
